America Is In The Hands Of Its Most Foolish Rather Than Its Finest
Mark Jan. 20, 2021, as the day the U.S. fell under the control of the lousiest presidential administration of our lifetimes, if not our history. Heaven help us to get past this bunch in Washington that is either so inept, or so blinded by its radical ideology, that it’s ushering the country into an era of decline.
Where to begin? How about with John Kerry? President Joe Biden’s climate envoy believes that “even if we get to net zero, we still have to get carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.” So no CO2, get rid of it all? Was this a slip of the tongue? A misstatement that can happen to anyone? Or simply yet another politician on the left gone mad?
More likely the latter. As our friend Steve Milloy at junkscience.com pointed out, Kerry actually made the same nonsensical statement twice at last week’s virtual climate summit to emphasize his point.
Another friend, Anthony Watts of the world’s most widely read global warming website, reminds us Kerry “said essentially the same thing back in 2015” when arguing – correctly – that no matter what the West does, carbon emissions will still be pouring out of the developing world.
Whether or not Kerry was making this exact same point last week, or was absurdly suggesting a zero-CO2 Earth, matters little. The inanity, however, does. How did we allow ourselves to be saddled with such a character?
Likewise, Kerry’s behavior as secretary of state under Barack Obama indicates he’s a man who cannot be trusted. He reportedly warned Iran about hundreds of Israeli covert attacks on the terrorist regime’s interests in Syria while working for that administration. If reports are accurate – and given the history of Democrats in general and Kerry in particular, there’s good reason to believe they are – then he provided aid and comfort to an enemy of the United States. None from the America-after-all-others administration dare call it treason, though.
Moving on, we find Biden looking the part of court jester rather than the leader of the free world. During a video chat last week with heads of state from around the globe, he alone wore a pandemic mask.
He wore mask again Tuesday in an outside setting when he announced new federal guidelines which tell us masks are unnecessary “if you’re fully vaccinated and you’re outdoors.”
Maybe he was virtue-signaling, as well as hoping to keep the fear running hot. Either way, it was an embarrassment. A grown man fully vaccinated against the coronavirus cowering like a fearful child, or an idiosyncratic germophobe, in front of the world makes the U.S. look foolish – and weak. His flaccid appearance confirms what both enemies and allies alike have been assuming for decades: America has been emasculated from within – risk-taking and gritty independence, which made this nation like no other, are being snuffed out by a milquetoast culture.
Next is Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, not a part of the administration though her crackpot ideas obviously hold great influence over White House decisions. (That she is anything other than a best-ignored, intellectually vapid back-bencher is an indictment of current American politics.) She’s convinced, or at least wants to persuade others, that the climate crisis – which exists only in politically fevered minds – is a product of white supremacy.
This takes us back to Biden, who has pledged to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030. Let’s forget for the moment that even entirely eliminating greenhouse gas emissions in America will have zero impact on global temperatures and consider just how asinine the president’s promise is. The best response to this nonsense that we’ve seen comes from energy analyst Willis Eschenbach, who called it “just another” leftist “ecoloonical brilliant idea.”
“This plan is just like your kid putting on a cape, insisting he can soar through the air like Superman, and jumping off the roof … it’s never gonna fly, and someone’s gonna get hurt bad.”
While incompetent, this administration and its lackeys also have a streak of venality. They want to force “equity” on the country, which means “equality of outcomes enforced by the government,” a practice that “they used to call…communism,” explains Andrew Sullivan. They want to drown this nation, especially its youth, in critical race theory, which has no redeeming qualities and will polarize a society that is already dividing at an alarming pace.
Asserting that “the dominant ideology of the modern West is an ideology of suicide,” as Roger Kimball, president and publisher of Encounter Books, does, is not an exercise in exaggeration. From progressive city halls and blue legislatures and Democratic governors’ mansions, to the U.S. House and the White House itself, the worst possible people are holding the levers of government, and it’s a death-grip of self-destruction.
Some of us said after the 2012 election we won’t get fooled again. The evidence that too many were has been evident throughout every news cycle since Jan. 20
