While American politicians almost across the board have either stayed silent or endorsed the erection of Le Mosque de Triomphe just yards away from where Muslims recently killed thousands of Americans, in a little-noticed development this summer, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper became the first Western leader to stand up to what is generally considered less insidious Islamic dogma: that coming from Bosnian Muslims. Here is what happened.

For some time now, Bosnian Muslims have been pushing their campaign to get the world’s governments — from the international level to the national level to the local level — to turn July 11 into an almost compulsory “genocide commemoration” day on behalf of the “8,000″ Muslims supposedly executed by Serbian forces in 1995. (This figure includes the 3,000 Srebrenica soldiers who were redeployed without their families being informed.)

They have had dominoe-like success, getting not only the EU and UN to officially mark the day every year, but getting the U.S. Congress in 2005 to actually pass a resolution condemning the “genocide” at Srebrenica.

The International Tribunal at the Hague felt adequately compelled by its own servility to Islamic demands that the same year, it expanded the definition of the word “genocide” just so that Muslims didn’t feel left out of history’s victimized populations, whose tragedies they’ve always sickly envied and whose world reverence and sympathy they covet. (Who can forget the famous “Muslim Anne Frank,” who wrote her best-selling diary from the comfort of Paris and later graduated college, none of which caused any skepticism from the Holocaust Memorial Day website, which published excerpts to mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2007.)

In addition to suiting Islamic victim-mongering, expanding the definition also served the purpose of making the crime fit the expected punishments for Serbian generals and soldiers. Meanwhile, the International Court of Justice, rather than doing its own investigation into the Srebrenica matter, simply grafted the Tribunal’s “genocide” ruling as its own.

And so recently, the Muslim genocide industry tried to get the Canadian Parliament to pass a resolution similar to the one that our servile, pusilanimous, ignorant, and buyable Congress did, but going a step further to establish a national day of remembrance called Srebrenica Remembrance Day. Dutifully, Liberal Party of Canada MP Robert Oliphant introduced Bill C-533 into the House of Commons, and the rest of Parliament dutifully obliged in passing it. But conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper vetoed it. Good on him.

In a response letter to a constituent concerned with facts, Oliphant explained his motivation. Part of the motivation appears to be that other world bodies and governments have done what the Muslims asked, and so that lends the Muslim claims legitimacy. Here is an excerpt:

…[T]he genocidal nature of the particular incident at Srebrenica in the summer of 1995 has been internationally recognized…As you are no doubt aware, both the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the International Court of Justice have ruled that what occurred in July 1995, when 8000 Bosniak men and boys were killed by Bosnian Serb Forces in the region of Srebrenica, was genocide. These judgments were the thoughtful results of fair and independent investigation and testimony.

[Not. The MP assumes this to be the case, because he clearly hasn’t had the time to observe the Hague in action.]

Internationally, nations have stepped forward with resolutions regarding the massacre and calls for a day of remembrance. This includes both the European Parliament and the House of Representatives and Senate of the United States of America. Most recently, on March 31st of this year, the Government of Serbia, led by President Boris Tadic, issued a full state apology for the Srebrenica massacre, providing tacit recognition of the genocidal nature of the crime, and endorsing the prior ruling of the International Court of Justice.

Note: The Government of Serbia will admit to killing OJ Simpson’s wife, if only you’d just let them join the party already.

On June 10, the day I introduced this Bill, it was announced that two Bosnian Serbs, convicted for committing genocide in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, were sentenced to life in prison. These are the first individuals to be definitively convicted for genocide by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

As opposed to Radislav Krstic (to name just one) who in 2001 got 46 years for Srebrenica just because. It was during Krstic’s appeal that the court widened the definition of genocide, to make it even easier to throw the book at Serbian defendants. And so that Oliphant could proudly continue:

Both men were found guilty of genocide, extermination, murder and persecution. The court jailed five other defendants, army and police officers, for between five and 35 years for their involvement in the genocide…I hope that this bill…will ultimately provide a small degree of comfort to the survivors of this genocide and to the Bosnian Muslim community here in Canada…

It sounds like the “comfort” he hopes to offer the Bosnian-Muslim community is more like appeasement. After all, Oliphant is a Western politician and therefore terrified of Muslims. But his efforts will backfire. Such a resolution will only serve to reinforce the Islamic sense of grievance and victimhood. By establishing the Muslim version of events as reality, we are providing tangible “proof” that Muslims can point to and say they were being wantonly slaughtered while the world — Canadians included — “stood by and did nothing.”

Westerners are admitting to their role in something that didn’t happen, and digging their own graves. That’s not to mention the UN-suing lawsuits that admitting to lies invites. Similarly, by admitting to what it didn’t do, Serbia has opened the door to lawsuits against it. Conversely, when Bosnia sued Serbia-Montenegro for genocide, the goal was “to force the Serb authorities to ‘confess’ to the mainstream propaganda version of what happened in Srebrenica,” as Nebojsa Malic wrote me. “The payoff and the subsequent report by the infamous Srebrenica Commission were predictably used as ‘proof’ of Serb guilt.”

Just like in the “genocide” ruling by the ICTY: the court overhauls jurisprudence in order to affirm a false reality, then the world that was clamoring for it to do so cites the court’s ruling establishing the demanded reality.

As president of the NGO “Srebrenica Historical Project,” Stefan Karganovic, told the Serbian newspaper Vesti, Harper made the right decision to veto Parliament’s initiative, stating, “Prime Minister Harper showed the courage to resist the political pressures, which is rarely seen in today’s world. Besides his personal integrity, his decision also shows the West is becoming tired of the requests to follow the agenda of the one aggressive and well organized interest group in Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

Karganovic added that the group pushing for the resolution — the Congress of North American Bosniaks — uses the human tragedy in Srebrenica to undermine the suffering and losses of others in the conflict.

This correct view was seconded by Bojan Ratkovic, Founder and President of the Serbian Youth League of Canada, whose open letter to the Canadian Public read in part:

…Robert Oliphant ignores completely the full context of the Srebrenica Massacre and the countless brutal war crimes committed by Bosnian Muslim forces and their Al-Qaeda-linked Mujahedeen allies [including some who were present in Srebrenica] against Serbian civilians and other ethnic minorities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina…In fact, many of those killed met their end at the hands of Bosnian Muslim soldiers and paramilitaries [including those present in Srebrenica].

The letter goes on to list the historical genocides suffered by Serbs — the implicit question being one that I’ve asked before with regard to Srebrenica vis-a-vis the Armenian genocide by Muslim Turks: Why the pressure to mark a “genocide” of Muslims, but not those of non-Muslims, often committed by Muslims? As I’ve answered before: If Muslims are killed, it’s a genocide. If Muslims do the killing, it’s not a genocide. This alone should lay bare the spineless motivations of Western governments submitting to this genocide shake-down. But here’s that list by Ratkovic:

The Serbian people were the victims of not one but three genocides during the 20th century:

– Hundreds of thousands of Serbian civilians were brutally massacred by Austro-Hungarian, Ottoman and Bulgarian forces during the First World War. Many of these crimes were committed by Bosnian Muslim forces fighting on the side of Austria-Hungary against the Serbs, a fact well documented by such war crime investigation pioneers as Dr. Archibald Rudolph Reiss.

– During the Second World War, many Bosnian Muslims joined the Nazi puppet Independent State of Croatia and contributed to the extermination of hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Jews and Roma peoples….

– Throughout the Yugoslav Civil Wars of the 1990s, the Serbs were the victims of multiple campaigns of genocide and ethnic cleansing on the territories of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina orchestrated in large part by the direct descendents of the SS Handschar, who attempted to realize [fundamentalist wartime Bosnian president] Alija Izetbegovic’s dream of an ethnically and religiously pure Islamic Bosnia as outlined in his supremacist manifesto, The Islamic Declaration, which was first published as early as 1970. [Re-released in 1990.]

Regrettably, the honourable Robert Oliphant makes no attempt to properly analyze the full context of the Srebrenica Massacre. I wish to inform him that prior to the Serbian forces taking the Srebrenica enclave in July of 1995, the enclave itself was being used as a staging area for military operations by Bosnian Muslim paramilitaries led by [the government-assisted] Bosnian warlord Naser Oric. These paramilitaries, aided by Mujahedeen terrorists from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, committed countless unspeakable war crimes in and around the towns of Srebrenica and Bratunac from 1992 all the way up to July of 1995. In fact, entire Serbian villages were [razed], Christian churches destroyed, graveyards desecrated, and over three and a half thousand Serbian civilians were mercilessly butchered during those three years. Due to the fact that most Serb men of the region were conscripted into the Serbian army, Naser Oric and his paramilitaries almost exclusively targeted innocent civilians, including women, children, and elderly Serbs who had no ability or opportunity to flee the carnage.

Once the Serbian forces entered the Srebrenica enclave in July of 1995, war crimes were undoubtedly committed and the Geneva Convention was violated. This is inexcusable and reprehensible, regardless of the circumstances. Nonetheless, many of the Serbian soldiers who entered Srebrenica had their families slaughtered by Bosnian Muslim paramilitaries, and to portray the Srebrenica Massacre as an isolated incident without a proper context is a direct affront to truth and justice.

[T]he Serbian Community of Canada and all Canadians who value truth and justice demand a clear answer from the honourable Robert Oliphant as to why he believes that the lives of Serbian civilian victims who were murdered by Bosnian Muslim forces are worth less than the lives of Bosnian Muslims? Furthermore, we demand that he justify to the Canadian public why he does not feel that all the innocent victims of the Yugoslav Civil War deserve to be properly remembered, and why he is insisting that only Bosnian Muslims deserve a remembrance day? […]

Back to Stephen Harper, whose forthrightness on this issue — which is what one hopes this is — puts America’s so-called conservative politicians to shame. In response to Harper’s stand, the fury of “the world community” came swiftly, revealing the pressure he’s up against:

PM must join the world community and his Foreign Affairs Minister and pass the motion

OTTAWA – Today, NDP MP Brian Masse, along with Emir Ramic, President of the Congress of North American Bosniaks, Dr. Zijad Delic, National Director of the Islamic Congress of Canada, and other leaders from the Canadian Bosniak community and a survivor of the Srebrenica Genocide, were joined by Liberal MP Rob Oliphant and Bloc MP Francine Lalonde, to demand the Prime Minister rescind his veto of a House of Commons motion, agreed to by the Foreign Affairs Minister’s office and all opposition parties, which recognizes the Srebrenica genocide with a Remembrance Day.

“This is an embarrassment and shameful. As the only western country to have not passed a motion or resolution recognizing the Srebrenica genocide, the Prime Minister has diminished Canada’s position in the world on the eve of the G-8 and G-20 Summits,” Masse stated. “What is humiliating and outrageous is the Prime Minister has vetoed what his own Foreign Affairs Minister agreed to. Even the Serbian parliament has passed a resolution. This is appalling.”

On the contrary, Canada’s position in the world has just been elevated 10-fold, at least in my (and the Judeo-Christian god’s) eye. The writers of the press release are appalled that Canada hasn’t joined the world in the outrageous self-humiliation it’s imposing on itself, an omission that is being termed “humiliating and outrageous.” Then we get into the usual fairy tale:

After the fall of Srebrenica on July 11th, 1995, Bosnian Serb forces, commanded by General Ratko Mladic (an indicted war criminal), and paramilitary units rapidly executed more than 8,000 Bosniak (Muslim) men, boys, and seniors, who had sought safety in the area. Moreover, approximately 30,000 people were forcibly deported in a UN-assisted ethnic cleansing.

“UN-assisted ethnic cleansing” is what the writers, like several international organizations, are calling the Serb-assisted UN busing to safety of women, children and elderly. Then the writers get into citing the “opinions” of all the bodies that they’ve successfully bullied into accepting their uninvestigated “truths”:

The European Parliament resolution referred to the Srebrenica Massacre as “the biggest war crime in Europe since the end of WWII.” This atrocity has been declared an act of genocide by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and the International Court of Justice.

The U.S. House, U.S. Senate and the European Parliament have all passed resolutions or motions that use the word genocide to describe the Srebrenica Massacre, which is the only event during the war in Bosnia (1992-1995) to have been declared a genocide by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

…Lejla Handanovic, speaking on behalf of the victims, declared, “many people in Canada are not aware of the events that took place in Srebrenica….having this resolution will help raise awareness of the genocide and let us actually put meaning to the words, ‘Never again.’” […]

She is worried that “many people in Canada” haven’t yet been reached by the Islamic propaganda, leaving them up for grabs by the truth. There was also this anti-Harper statement issued by the group that’s been shoving the resolution down Canadians’ throats:

CNAB disappointed with Prime Minister Harper’s shameful veto of the motion to remember the Srebrenica Genocide

Congress of North American Bosniaks (CNAB) strongly condemns the shameful decision of the Canadian prime minister to veto a House of Commons motion M-416, agreed to by the Foreign Affairs Minister’s office and all opposition parties…It is incomprehensible that the prime minister continues to ignore the voices of reason and insists on questioning the facts surrounding the Srebrenica Genocide which have been established on many occasions by the International [Court] of Justice [and] the International Criminal Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia. In addition, the U.S. and the EU have both passed the Srebrenica Genocide resolutions…Many cities in the United States and state governments in the US have started issuing resolutions and proclamation[s]recognizing the importance of this day.

We call upon all the MPs of Canada to continue to push for justice for the victims…If Canada does not recognize the Srebrenica genocide as defined by the United Nations Charter it will…send a clear signal to Canadian Bosniaks that despite their best efforts as citizens, the country they now call home is unwilling to support their loved ones who lost their lives in the worst atrocity in Europe since the Holocaust.

Indeed, as defined by the UN Charter, genocide is precisely what Srebrenica was not. And that’s why the Court adjusted the definition.

The best analysis of the Harper-Srebrenica phenomenon came from Nebojsa Malic, in a blog post last month titled “Pushing the Myth“:

…After Mr. Harper put the kibosh on the resolution, the CNAB and the Institute [for the Research of Genocide] raised a ruckus. Their initial protest, on June 23, included a long list of people identified as an “international team of experts” and claiming illustrious academic titles. The post with the list, however, has since been taken down from the Institute website.

Here are just some of the names from the list:
• M. Cherif Bassiouni (former UN rapporteur on the events in Bosnia, who endorsed the ridiculously inflated casualty figures and the “mass rape” hoax)
• Francis A. Boyle (international ambulance-chaser and author of the “genocide” lawsuit by the Izetbegovic government against Serbia, rejected before an actual court)
• Florence Hartmann (once spokesperson for Carla Del Ponte at the ICTY)
• Marko Attila Hoare (a world-renowned Serbophobe-cum-historian)
• Daniel Toljaga (listed as member of the Board of Directors at the Congress of North American Bosniaks, but better known as proprietor of the Srebrenica Genocide Blog)
• Dzemaludin Latic and Fatmir Alispahic, champions of militant Islam and Serbophobia considered even in Bosnia to be the lunatic fringe.

Suffice to say that the list was a veritable who’s who of professional victims, genocide entrepreneurs, and people who have built their careers on the myth of Bosnia. So, these folks have taken upon themselves to have the Canadian Parliament endorse their version of history by government fiat — i.e. by force, since they can’t actually prove it in court. It is as if they don’t believe their argument good enough to just persuade people, even though it has enjoyed almost uncontested dominance in the media for the past 15 years!

The much less organized Canadian Serbs have protested this proposal with letters. The response they got was pretty much a set of talking points reminiscent of the content found on the SGB, Hoare’s blog, or the CNAB site.

The letter…specifically mentions the ICTY and ICJ verdicts, claiming they were “thoughtful results of fair and independent investigation and testimony.”

Yet the ICJ verdict specifically said it had not considered the Srebrenica events itself, but simply accepted the ICTY rulings at face value. To call the ICTY’s verdicts “thoughtful”, their investigations “independent” and the testimonies of serial perjurers “fair” — that’s just rich. Let’s see: their crown witness, on which the entire case hangs, is a liar. They have conducted sloppy forensic work and later destroyed much of the evidence. They refuse to show the DNA evidence, then claim it proves something that is physically impossible for DNA evidence to prove (i.e. manner of death). And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! The ICTY verdicts have more holes in them than a kitchen sieve.

Another argument in the response is that others have done this — the European Parliament, the US House and Senate, and hey, even the (quisling) government of Boris Tadic in Serbia! — so why not the Canadian legislature? Well, since when did “everyone is doing it” become a valid argument? Just because some lawmakers in Europe and the US have voted with their hearts for a well-prepared piece of propaganda does not have the magical power to transform that propaganda into fact. Truth is not a matter of majority vote — or even consensus.

From the first days of the Bosnian War, the Izetbegovic regime’s weapon of choice was propaganda. They aimed to win the war by getting outside forces to do the fighting for them, based on heart-rending stories of massacres, mass rape, concentration camps and genocide. One after another, those stories have been exposed as fabrications and deliberate distortions of the already horrifying reality, while the full horrors of the war were never reported, so as not to interfere with the mythical narrative. The Srebrenica “genocide” is the last lie that remains, the one myth that was built up and reinforced more than any of the others. By now, Srebrenica has become a post facto justification for everything: the ethnic cleansing of Serbs, the foreign mujahedin, the rise of Wahhabism and terrorism, the re-Islamization of Bosnia’s Muslims (a goal Izetbegovic set for himself in the 1970s, mind you), the ongoing refusal of Muslim politicians to abide by the country’s Constitution, and the equally ongoing attempts to fulfill their wartime objectives politically, by overturning the Dayton Accords.

All of this rests on the foundation of a myth that what happened in July 1995 in Srebrenica was “genocide”. Even though the women and children were safely evacuated. Even though the column that refused to surrender and set off across the mountains and minefields to Tuzla was a military formation. Even though the actual number of people who died on that march was never established (the “8,000″ figure is equally arbitrary as the “300,000″ [Bosnia war dead] we’d heard for a decade, before facts became impossible to ignore), and the actual evidence suggests that the number of people actually murdered (as in executed, which indeed is a war crime) is several hundred. Even though nothing was ever produced to demonstrate intent on part of the Bosnian Serbs to actually exterminate the Muslims as a people — apart from the very strong belief by the Muslims that this was the case.

[Note: By now the Muslims do strongly believe their own lies, but I contend that it did not start out this way; the Muslims were driven more by their desperate Holocaust envy.]

Yet in a proper court of law, it doesn’t matter what one believes — only what one can prove. Fully aware that the ICTY judgments are based on belief and conjecture rather than actual facts, the believers in the Srebrenica Genocide Myth are now trying to impose it by force, by getting governments to pass resolutions. Next up will probably be demands that anyone questioning their myth be prosecuted as a “holocaust denier.” So, not only are they disparaging the actual Holocaust by declaring Srebrenica a “genocide,” they are also exploiting and abusing the mechanisms established so no one could strive to rehabilitate the Nazis and deny the suffering of the Jews. When you consider the fact that the ancestors of many of those Muslims actually helped the Nazis in their ghastly “Endloesung”, it becomes obvious that Srebrenica is not just about the present and the future, but also about whitewashing the past.

I understand why it is in the interest of the Bosnian Muslims’ religious, political and propaganda leadership (and their associates, fellow-travelers and useful idiots in the West and elsewhere) to promote the Srebrenica Genocide Myth. How that would serve Canada’s interests, however, is beyond me. Stephen Harper appears to have reached a similar conclusion — and for that he deserves thanks, not just of the Serbs living in Canada, but all Canadians who care about their own country.

Before Stephen Harper, there was in fact one other Western politician who rejected the Srebrenica-kowtowing fetish, making him the first-ever Western politician to stand up to Bosnian-Muslim dogma. Ironically, it was New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, as the International Strategic Studies Association reported in 2003:

Recent information emerging from Bosnia-Herzegovina, and particularly from the RS [Republika Srpska] investigations into the Srebrenica affair and other aspects of terrorism in the region, have highlighted the fact that the Clinton Administration had, during the war, facilitated the Islamist terrorist activities because of the Clinton Administration’s need to demonize the Serbs in order to provide a casus belli for US-led military actions in the area to distract from domestic US political problems. Significantly, when the Muslim representatives involved in building the “shrine” in Srebrenica approached New York Mayor Michael Blumberg [sic] to establish a sister-city relationship with New York, the Mayor refused, based on intelligence showing the link between the Bosnian Islamists and the al-Qaida attacks on his city.

Of course, today Bloomberg is a proud supporter of the 9/11 Mosque — and his MTA censors protest ads by us infidels — so we see the direction things have gone in.

Since earlier I mentioned that the genocide-mongers point to Serbia’s recent “admission” to the genocide, it is relevant that this ISSA report was titled “US Official Implicated With Bosnian High Representative Ashdown in Attempting to Force Fabricated Report on Srebrenica.” In this case it was Bosnia’s Serb Republica that was being bullied. Here is an excerpt:

Very reliable sources within the Office of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other sources in Sarajevo, have told GIS/Defense & Foreign Affairs Daily that…Amb. Donald S. Hays, the Deputy High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been actively engaged in attempts to force a fabricated report to be published on the controversial wartime fighting at the city of Srebrenica.

Amb. Hays, presumably at the insistence of High Representative Paddy Ashdown, the former British politician, has demanded the publication of a so-called “final report” on an alleged mass-killing of Bosnian Muslims at Srebrenica in 1995…In essence, Amb. Hays and Lord Ashdown are attempting to force the Government of Republica Srpska (RS) to admit that Serbs were responsible for killing thousands of Muslims at Srebrenica.

The Government of Republica Srpska’s leadership — indeed any of the elected officials of the state — can be summarily dismissed immediately by the High Representative at any time should they refuse to obey his orders, regardless of whether or not the officials were democratically elected or whether the High Representative’s own actions violate the Dayton Accords, which he was put in office to sustain. This threat was implicit in the ultimatum delivered by Amb. Hays in a series of meetings he held with the Republica Srpska Prime Minister, Mladen Ivanic, in late August and early September 2003 in Banja Luka, the RS capital.

Amb. Hays presented the Prime Minister with a document — on the letterhead of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) — which the Government of Republica Srpska was “advised” to accept as à fait accompli…The content of the two-page document was to be re-issued by the Government of Republica Srpska…as though it represented the RS “final report” on the Srebrenica issue. Significantly, the RS has been conducting a detailed and thorough investigation of the issue and has already issued some material which acknowledged Serbian responsibility for some actions but which also contained a wide range of other information which showed the conflict in a much more detailed light. The RS office was established specifically to assist the International Criminal Tribunal on Yugoslavia….

It appeared that the OHR wanted the statement issued before the opening of a Muslim monument — essentially a shrine which was being promoted as a site for annual Muslim pilgrimages from around the world — memorializing the radical Islamist allegations about events in Srebrenica, to occur on September 19, 2003.

[Note: This is a memorial and burial site at which Bosnian Muslims themselves have said that soldiers from other parts of Bosnia are buried; adding insult to injury, the Serb Republic was made to help fund this million-dollar monument to the killers of Serb civilians. The majority of the funding, however, came from US taxpayers.]

The unveiling of the monument would be attended by former US Pres. William Clinton, and “finalizing” the Srebrenica case would help stop the ongoing wave of allegations of illegal Clinton Administration activity in supporting radical Islamist activities in Bosnia during the 1990s. This is particularly critical given the fact that a significant number of the Islamist terrorists involved in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States had strong links into the Bosnian Muslims whom Clinton had supported.

The US Embassy in Sarajevo donated $1-million to the construction of the “shrine”, even though all proper investigations of the Srebrenica affair in fact showed the Islamists’ claims to be unsubstantiated and, in many respects, without foundation at all.

Amb. Hays’ two-page document was expected to lead to a statement, possibly as early as September 8, 2003, by RS officials, which would not only serve to protect the Clinton Administration officials, including the former US President, but would also serve as an admission of guilt of Serbs for killing thousands of Muslims who, in fact, were not known to have been killed.

The document which Hays has been pushing essentially forces the RS Government to state that:

1. Nothing is unclear in the Srebrenica investigation except the number of victims. In other words, the Islamist propaganda, supported by Ashdown — who has long been disavowed in the UK by his former colleagues in the Royal Marines because of his unequivocal acceptance of Islamist propaganda — is accepted as fact by the RS Government, thereby admitting guilt for crimes never committed;

2. The RS apologizes to the Muslims for earlier RS statements which disputed the Islamist propaganda….

One moderate Muslim source in Sarajevo told GIS: “If the Bush Administration does not act soon, terrorism against US and Western interests will erupt soon across much of the Balkans, and from the Balkans into the rest of the world. And all of this seems to be just to allow the old US Administration of Clinton to cover their tracks. The radicals not only destroyed the Serbs, they also destroyed the lives of moderate Muslims. Now they will start another war. Why is the Bush Administration following the policies of the Clinton Administration? Why are Clinton people still running all the key posts in American embassies in the region?” […]

When the ICJ re-issued the ICTY’s “genocide” label in 2007, the Bosnian-Muslim leadership used the “ruling” to call for the abolition of the Dayton-created Serb Republic all together, and has been calling for the liquidation of the republic ever since.

When the European Parliament resolution in January 2009 called on all EU countries to proclaim July 11th a day of commemoration — followed by similar resolutions in Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro — the Bosnian Serbs rejected being part of it. Prime Minister Milorad Dodik said the resolution “leaves ‘a bitter taste’ because it ‘underlines only one event’ while ignoring many other atrocities committed during Bosnia’s 1992-1995 war. However, according to the above-linked report, “Dodik and other Bosnian Serb leaders didn’t question the fact [sic] that genocide took place during and after the fall of Srebrenica. Yet they…expressed concerns that the EU resolution…may be misused in Bosnian political games.”

If true, it was unwise of the Serb Republic to not contest the genocide point.

What we are witnessing is an unprecedented, coerced mourning — of an enemy people. As an observer named Dragan Rakic in Strasbourg, France noted:

According to some media sources the CE [European Community] adopted the 11 [July] as a “remembrance day of Srebrenica”, the Slovenian representative, Mr. Jelko Kacin (strange that one of the member of the former Yugoslavia has such an influence), suggested to celebrate that day by “all the west Balkan countries”. Allow me to notice that the Yom Hashoah Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is [commemorated] by the Jewish communities all around the world, is limited to those communities and was never imposed to [any] EU country as a compulsory celebration. Mr. Jelko Kacin is trying to place Srebrenica above the German nazi holocaust where 6 millions of innocent Jews were annihilated by Hitler’s regime. It is most indecent to compare Srebrenica to German nazi crimes and put most probably jihadist victims above millions who perished in other odious wars.

Yet we have a supposed Jew in the Bosnian government, Foreign Minister Sven Alkalaj, who is so down with the jihad that in July 2009 he called for the Srebrenica memorials to be held every month, not just once a year.

At the same time, no sooner did the EU pass the mandatory Srebrenica commemoration resolution in January 2009 than the same month Israel found itself rebuked by two prominent Bosnian Muslims for underscoring the singularity of the Jewish Holocaust — and for supposedly committing an equivalent genocide against Palestinians:

Sarajevo, 29 January: Authors Dzemaludin Latic and Fatmir Alispahic today condemned Israel’s denial of the genocide against Bosniaks and other peoples subjected to genocide.

Latic and Alispahic said in a statement for the public that they were “raising their voices in protest against Israeli officials’ attacks on the sanctity of the Bosniak victims, and by extension the Bosniak people who are blamed for inflicting pain and suffering on the Bosnian Serbs from the position of ‘terrorism and extremist fundamentalism’”.
…
They believe that in his correspondence with [Serb] entity Premier Milorad Dodik Israeli President Shimon Peres brazenly violated the sovereignty of the state of Bosnia-Hercegovina, because he “communicates with someone who does not represent our state, but only an entity which does not carry the attributes of a state”.
…
They also condemned the insult to all victims of genocide uttered by senior Israeli diplomat Pinhas Avivi, who said that “for his country the Holocaust is the only genocide”.

Latic and Alispahic stressed that the Holocaust was the worst genocide in history, whose dimensions are only comparable to Israel’s genocide against the Palestinians, which has been going on for decades with the support of America and silence of many western and Islamic countries.

“Respect for the Jewish victims of the Holocaust does not exclude our respect for Palestinian victims,” they said.

Deputy chairman of the Bosnia-Hercegovina Council of Ministers, Tarik Sadovic, expressed the same view earlier that month.

Notice that, all the while, the real genocide of Serbs and Jews by Croatian and Bosnian Muslims during WWII is still not commemorated by anyone, nor even mentioned, allowing for it to be celebrated instead of mourned and its perpetrators hailed as heroes. Just one example, from April 2008: Melbourne eatery hails leader of Nazi-allied Croatia

Melbourne’s Katarina Zrinski restaurant held a celebration this past weekend to honor World War II Croatian leader Ante Pavelic….The restaurant is attached to the local Croatian club…a large photograph of Pavelic was hung in the restaurant, T-shirts with his picture and that of two other [Ustasha] commanders…for sale at the bar, and the establishment of the [WWII] “Independent State of Croatia” was celebrated….this was not the first time that Croatian émigrés in Australia had openly defended Croatian Nazi war criminals.

I’ll close with some snippets of actual reporting from the days, weeks and months following July 11, 1995 — so that readers can judge for themselves what did and didn’t happen. From the chronology, one realizes that while the Bosnian government was trying to spin a tale of massacre, we largely ignored the ploy until the deadly ethnic cleansing operation “Storm” against Serbs in Croatia began a month later. It was an operation that the U.S. assisted, but it risked confusing the tidy “good guys” and “bad guys” narrative. Hence, we set our sights on, and turned everyone’s attention to, Srebrenica.

With that, here is the real-time reporting, brought to us by Peter Brock’s book Media Cleansing:

NY Times, July 16, 1995:

[Brock: “Thousands of Muslim women and children refugees began arriving at Tuzla from Srebrenica hours after (the) Serb takeover.”] They said that most of the men among them had fled into forests in the hope of making their way to Muslim-held territory…

NY Times, July 18, 1995:

Some 3,000 to 4,000 Bosnian Muslims who were considered by UN officials to be missing after the fall of Srebrenica have made their way through enemy lines to Bosnian government territory. The group, which included wounded refugees, sneaked past Serb lines under fire and crossed some 30 miles through forests to safety.

The Daily Telegraph, July 24, 1995:

[In the absence of a single retrieved or verified Muslim body from Srebrenica, a report from Tuzla said that] after five days of interviews the United Nations chief investigator into alleged human rights abuses during the fall of Srebrenica has not found any first-hand witnesses of atrocities. [Emphasis added by Brock]

NY Times, July 27, 1995:

[Brock: The stories of mass (anti-)Muslim atrocities at Srebrenica were inconsistent with accounts from Muslim refugees who arrived from nearby Zepa a few days later:] “They brought tales of two weeks of living in caves in the wooded hills during the heavy bombardment of the U.N.-designated ’safe haven,’ but did not recount atrocities like those people brought out of Srebrenica after the Serbs overran that ’safe area’ on July 11… ‘We were treated well by the Serbian soldiers,’ said Ms. (Ramiza) Kolovac, a law student in Sarajevo who was visiting her parents in Zepa…” [Brock: The surprising reports from refugees and aid agencies about “no evidence of systematic abuses of the Zepa civilians” (were) desperately disputed by Bosnian government officials in Sarajevo who decided to bar journalists from camps holding Zepa refugees…]

Times of London, Aug. 2, 1995:

Thousands of the “missing” Bosnian Muslim soldiers from Srebrenica who have been at the center of reports of possible mass executions by the Serbs, are believed to be safe to the northeast of Tuzla…For the first time…the Red Cross in Geneva said it had heard from sources in Bosnia that up to 2,000 Bosnian Government troops were in an area north of Tuzla.

They had made their way there from Srebrenica “without their families being informed,” a spokesman said, adding that it had not been possible to verify the reports because the Bosnian Government refused to allow the Red Cross into the area.

Associated Press, Aug. 10, 1995:

[Brock, citing an Aug. 10 NY Times article: Madeleine Albright showed spy photos to the U.N. Security Council and claimed 2,000 to 2,700 missing Bosnians from Srebrenica may have been shot by Bosnian Serbs. An unidentified] 63-year-old Bosnian refugee told a team led by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State John Shattuck that Gen. Ratko Mladic…had promised safety to a group of refugees being held at a soccer field, a U.S. official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. But men and boys were later loaded onto trucks and driven to a site half-mile (sic) from the soccer field, where they were lined up in groups of 20 to 25 and machine-gunned, the official said.” Secretary of State Warren Christopher’s daily intelligence briefings have not disclosed “any intelligence imagery that could confirm massacres.” [Brock: But within a week after the Croat government unleashed a vicious campaign to cleanse hundreds of thousands of Serbs from the Krajina, Madeleine Albright diverted media attention by waving eight satellite photos of mounds of dirt which, she said, were mass graves containing Muslims at Srebrenica.]

Significantly, Operation Storm — carried out with massive US support including from Military Professional Resources, Inc., “a Pentagon contractor made up of retired US generals and combat experts [who] trained the Croats” — was referred to by the ICTY as the most brutal event in the Balkans since World War II, as related in a March 21, 1999 NY Times article. But notice how since that time, that distinction has been shifted to the very event that Albright sought to displace Storm with. So that today, there is no phrase repeated more often, more loudly or in more places than “Srebrenica, the worst atrocity since WWII.” And so the lie has become the truth.

The International Committee of the Red Cross, August 15, 1995:

[Brock: The International Committee of the Red Cross reports that 5,000 Muslim soldiers escaped and were secretly assigned to other units. Family members were not even notified about the reassignments by the Bosnian government, said ICRC Report No. 37.]

NY Times, October 7, 1995

[On July 11-12,] Bosnian Serbs marched into Srebrenica and captured it without firing a shot… “As peackeepers saw the bodies of freshly killed Muslims in Srebrenica, they raised no alarm,” according to Bert Kreemers, Dutch Defense Ministry spokesman…On July 17, as Dutch peacekeepers were preparing to leave Srebrenica, one of their senior officers, Maj. Robert Franken, signed an agreement with Bosnian Serb authorities certifying that “the evacuation was carried out by the Serb side correctly.” Later that week, as the peacekeepers were arriving in Zagreb, Croatia, the commander of the Dutch ground forces, Lt. Gen. Hans Couzy, who had flown from Amsterdam to meet them, said he knew of no evidence suggesting that the Bosnian Serbs in Srebrenica had committed crimes akin to genocide. At a news conference the next day in Zagreb, Lt. Col. Tom Karremans, who had commanded the Dutch battalion in Srebrenica, asserted that the Bosnian Serbs’ “militarily correct operation” had been carried out “in the right way.”

(Brock footnote: “The inaction by the Dutch, although later chastised by dutch politicians who were embarrassed because of the contradictory deluge of media reports about the massive slaughter, appeared to give credence to the Bosnian Serb claims that a number of oposing Muslim factions had shot it out with each other over disagreement on whether to fight or run. Muslims fighting Muslims, after all, was no Balkan phenomenon when compared to the conflicts among Muslims at Bihac and elsewhere.”)

A 2001 Radio Netherlands report revealed why the Bosnian government never produced any records of individual soldier names, identity of their units and dates of deployment, possible troop absorptions by other units, or “comparative casualty tallies of all units before and after the Srebrenica takeover to establish or disprove allegations of massacre,” writes Brock.

Radio Netherlands, July 13, 2001, “Srebrenica: the Questions that Remain”:

…The Bosnian troops were known as the government army’s 28th Mountain Division, thought to number up to 8,000 troops. They were under the command of the Tuzla-based Second Army Corps, which in turn was led by Commander-in-Chief Rezim Delic. On the eve of the fall of Srebrenica, the 28th Mountain Division received orders to withdraw to Tuzla, moving through the Serbian lines.

According to the then army chief of staff, General Sefer Halilovic, some 6,000 troops arrived in Tuzla. A Red Cross official told Radio Netherlands at the time that he had seen “a few thousand troops from Srebrenica near Tuzla, with whom he wasn’t allowed to talk. In August 1995, a month after the enclave’s fall, Commander in Chief Delic reported to parliament in Sarajevo that “the withdrawal of the 28th Division had been largely successful.” [Emphasis added by Brock.]

International Strategic Studies Association, Sept. 18, 2003, “Srebrenica Casualty Numbers Challenged by Experts as Politicized and Ethnically Divisive”:

Former BBC journalist Jonathan Rooper, who has researched the events in Srebrenica since 1995, says that the region was a graveyard for Serbs as well as Muslis and that a monument to inflated casualties on one side “serves neither truth nor the goal of reconciliation.”

Phillip Corwin, former UN Civilian Affairs Coordinator in Bosnia during the 1990s, said: “What happened in Srebrenica was not a single large massacre of Muslims by Serbs, but rather a series of very bloody attacks and counterattacks over a three-year period which reached a crescendo in July of 1995. …I was the United Nations’ chief political officer in Bosnia the day that Srebrenica fell. Coincidentally, it was the same day that the Bosnian government tried to assassinate me as I drove over Mount Igman on the way to Sarajevo.”

Corwin mentions this incident in his book Dubious Mandate: A Memoir of the UN in Bosnia, Summer 1995:

Phillip Corwin…recounts, incidentally, how a Bosnian government official “threatened his life” when he proposed to visit Srebrenica following its fall to Serb forces in July 1995. Shortly after the meeting in question, Corwin would be the target of sniper fire that, he claims, came from Bosnian government positions.

Back to the ISSA analysis:

…Yossef Bodansky, who has written several books on the war in Yugoslvia and also serves as Research Director of ISSA, calls the 7,000 figure “disinformation” and notes that “all independent forensic evidence points to Muslim casualties in the hundreds, possibly the low hundreds. Continued emphasis on such allegedly high numbers of Muslim deaths at Srebrenica obfuscates the Muslim [killings] in that city, earlier, of Serb civilians.”

Rooper says that at least 1,000 Serbs, mostly civilians, were killed by forces led by Oric who did not bother to hide his crimes, even showing videotapes of slaughtered Serbs to Western journalists…Rooper points out that the 40,000 inhabitants the UN used in July of 1995 before the capture of Srebrenica roughly matches the number of former residents accounted for in the aftermath. A commander of the Muslim-dominated Army of BiH (Bosnia-Herzegovina) later confirmed to parliament in Sarajevo that 5,000 BiH troops escaped largely intact to Tuzla while the UN registered some 35,632 civilian survivors.

By 1998, thousands of bodies excavated from all across Bosnia were stored at the Tuzla airport. Despite state of the art DNA testing, only 200 bodies have been linked to Srebrenica. Around 3,000 names on a list of Srebrenica victims compiled by the Red Cross matched voters in the Bosnian election in 1996. “I pointed out to the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) that there had either been massive election fraud or almost half the people on the ICRC missing list were still alive,” says Rooper. “The OSCE finally responded that the voting lists had been locked away in warehouses and it would not be possible for them to investigate.” [Emphasis added by Brock.]

As Brock summarizes in his opening to the chapter containing the preceding out-takes from the summer of 1995:

“[B]y the end of the decade, cadavers from various regions of Bosnia were being quietly transported around the country and, U.N. officials and others suspected, were being lumped together as “Srebrenica victims”!…[T]he grisly inventory at Tuzla likely included other corpses that pre-dated the July 1995 killings and bore enough signs that they were not Muslims — but local Serbs murdered earlier by Bosnian Muslim troops and mercenaries…On the eve of the trial of indicted Bosnian Muslim commander [of Srebrenica] Nasir Oric, forensic scientists from The Hague were noticeably silent about any exhumations of the nearly 1,000 Serb civilians killed at Bratunac and at nearby Serb villages.

Oric ended up walking away with time served (two years), later appealing for a full acquittal, which he got. After all, when did killing Serbs become a crime?
