http://pjmedia.com/rogerlsimon/2013/04/19/boston-its-about-islam-david-sirota/ When you write about titanic events in progress, you risk appearing a fool. Nevertheless I have some strong feelings this morning with Dzhokar Tsarnaev still at large that I cannot resist spelling out. Over the last few days I have wanted to write about an article published by David Sirota on Salon [1], which […]
https://www.facebook.com/wjc.org?fref=tsPoland’s highest authorities on Friday paid homage to the Jewish fighters who rose up 70 years ago against the German occupiers in what is known as the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. President Bronislaw Komorowski led tributes at the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes in honor of the first and largest rebellion against the Germans during World War II. Also present were two survivors of the fighting, Simha Rotemand Havka Folman Raban; and many other dignitaries.
On 19 April 1943, 750 poorly armed Jews began armed resistance to the German forces, who were sending ghetto residents to death camps. The revolt was crushed in May, and the ghetto was razed to the ground, its residents killed.
“The Nazis made a hell on earth of the ghetto,” Komorowski said in a speech. “Persecuting the Jews appealed to the lowest of human instincts.”

The Walrus and The Carpenter in Boston Maureen Mullarkey
God spare us any more of these interfaith shows.
Organized to kick-off the civic healing process—a cant phrase for a delusional concept—these political reiki events presume to make us feel better about feeling bad in the wake of horrific assault. A Daily News headline intones “Boston Marathon Survivors Begin the Healing Process as President Obama Leads Prayer Service.” The article gives us the comfort of knowing that Barack and Michelle visited victims at Massachusetts General Hospital “to try to heal a little more.” US News burbled in a subhead: “The president issued a love letter to Boston during speech at an interfaith service.”
Sanctimony oozed from platitudinous coverage of the president’s “message of healing.” The Cathedral of the Holy Cross could have held a quiet, unspectacular Mass for the dead and wounded. Instead, it staged a pseudo-pious photo-op for the same feckless politicians whose policies and ideological timidities open doors to terrorist aggression.
It was left to Investor’s Business Daily and the UK’s Daily Mail to note that, prior to the Marathon, our Consoler-in-Chief had slashed funds for a program to deter domestic bombing. He cut the bombing prevention budget by 45 percent against the advice of a leading military IED expert. Not so long ago he went to bed while his ambassador in Benghazi was being murdered. No prayers wasted on that carnage. Yet he feels our pain, does our high rolling healer. Much like Lewis Carroll’s canny walrus who wept for the oysters he devoured.

Israel and the Boston bombings
It may have been coincidental that Monday’s terrorist attack at the Boston marathon coincided with Israel’s Remembrance Day for fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism. As Israelis participated in ceremonies mourning the dead, many of whom lost their lives in bombings, innocent Americans were killed and maimed while celebrating Patriots’ Day. The rest of the United States was hit with the realization that the horrors of Sept. 11, 2001, are not a thing of the past.
Mainstream Israel has always grasped this unfortunate fact. Being the target of terror on a daily basis tends to put a damper on wishful amnesia.
This painful reality has some positive side effects, however. It has made the Israeli security services experts at recognizing, preventing and intercepting jihadists. It has led Israeli hospital personnel to excel at handling mass emergencies. It has caused Israeli innovators to wow the world with ingenious prosthetic inventions. And it has provided Israeli medical teams with the kind of training and empathy that enables them to be dispatched to all corners of the globe during natural and other disasters — the kind that require skills such as searching for bodies buried under rubble and setting up field infirmaries.
