The obstacle of world opinion http://www.israelhayom.com/site/newsletter_opinion.php?id=1896 World opinion should not deter Israel from enhancing Jewish roots and national security, expanding the Jewish presence in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the Golan Heights, and pre-empting Palestinian and Hezbollah terrorism. Adverse world opinion and global pressure have always been an integral part of the Jewish people and the […]

State Sen. Deb Fischer upended the Nebraska Senate GOP primary on Tuesday, coming from behind to win the nomination over perceived front-runner Attorney General Jon Bruning, who had been leading in the polls by double digits just weeks ago.
Fischer will face former governor and Democratic Sen. Bob Kerrey this November in an open race for the seat currently held by retiring Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson. Fischer enters the general election with an edge over Kerrey because of the conservative lean of the Cornhusker State. National Democrats see Kerrey as their best chance to keep the state in Democratic hands, while Republicans view it as a must-win in their efforts to win a Senate majority. Democrats currently control the chamber 53-47.
Treasurer Don Stenberg fell short in what was essentially a three-way nomination contest, delivering an electoral blow to the cadre of conservative activists that had endorsed him, including Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., the anti-tax group Club for Growth, and the Tea Party-aligned Freedom Works.

The following are what the holy Quran teaches, but the President Obama know not:
* Qur’an:9:88 “The Messenger and those who believe with him, strive hard and fight with their wealth and lives in Allah’s Cause.”
* Qur’an:9:5 “Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.”
* Qur’an:9:112 “The Believers fight in Allah’s Cause, they slay and are slain, kill and are killed.”
* Qur’an:9:29 “Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission.”
* Qur’an:8:39 “Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah.”
* Qur’an:8:39 “So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief [non-Muslims]) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world).”
* Qur’an:9:14 “Fight them and Allah will punish them by your hands, lay them low, and cover them with shame. He will help you over them.”
* Qur’an:8:65 “O Prophet, urge the faithful to fight. If there are twenty among you with determination they will vanquish two hundred; if there are a hundred then they will slaughter a thousand unbelievers, for the infidels are a people devoid of understanding.”

Lacking Courage, Politicians Not Moving on Fast and Furious Scandal
A handful of Republicans are pursuing the biggest scandal in American history, but guess what: House Speaker Boehner isn’t one of them, and that puts him on par with Democrats like Jim Costa, who think “Issa and Holder should sit down and work it out.”
West Virginia Democrat Nick Rahall wants Holder to turn over the subpoenaed documents but is “not ready to go as far as contempt yet, no. Not yet.”
Rep. Dan Burton of Indiana explained why he thinks Boehner, along with Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), are going along to get along.
With the other issues, the economy and everything else, I think they would like to focus on that. I don’t think they’re opposed to going ahead with the contempt citation; it’s just that if we can get the Justice Department to move without having to move it, they would probably prefer that.

While diplomacy during peacetime can be described as the efforts between two national representatives to overcome obstacles to a good, healthy, and mutually productive relationship, diplomacy during hostilities cannot. “Diplomatic efforts” during an […]

“Education has long ago given way to indoctrination, to political finishing schools where it’s hard to learn anything worthwhile, but easy to learn the habits of intellectual snobbery. “I got a crazy teacher, he wears dark glasses,” went the old song. “Things are going great, and they’re only getting better.” These days all the teachers are crazy and they all wear dark glasses. Nobody studies nuclear science anymore, only the science of telling other people what to do because it’s what best for them. There’s no nuclear armageddon ticking away in labs, just a million community organizing Dr. Strangeloves who know that they have to destroy the nation to save its soul. When the speeches are done, the obligatory jokes, the namechecks of the university president, the multitude of variations on “Reach for the stars, keep your shoulder to the wheel and go camp out near Wall Street to complain about corporate bonuses,” then the students sweating under the hot sun, will walk away feeling oddly heavy and light at the same time. On their shoulders is a bundle of debt and the hopes of a nation. The future’s so bright they gotta wear mortarboards. ”
The commencement address has become part of the campaign trail. How better to showcase your candidate as a man with a vision for tomorrow than to feature him passing along some of his wisdom to the people of tomorrow, those bright-eyed and bushy-tailed graduates going off with an average twenty grand in debt into a marketplace with few job prospects.
Not everyone can get Obama to deliver their commencement address. It helps if your college is female and affiliated with the Ivy League, where downtrodden Barnard students can be counseled to “fight for your seat at the head of the table” by an unqualified man who began and ended his career by pushing out better qualified female candidates from Alice Palmer to Hillary Clinton. Barnard women are free to fight for a seat at the head of the table, so long as it’s not his seat or a seat that he wants.
