JOEL POLLAK: FIRING AT BREITBART WHEN HE CAN’T FIRE BACK

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/mar/13/firing-at-breitbart-when-he-cant-fire-back/
Critics fume but can’t restrain citizen journalists he unleashed

Andrew Breitbart would not have been surprised by the out- pouring of liberal hate after his death. He would have reveled in it, relished it, retweeted it. He enjoyed watching the left unmask itself, revealing pretensions at “civility” to be nothing more than bullying. He would have laughed to see Rolling Stone quietly pulling its ads off the page where Matt Taibbi – a drug-abusing misogynist, Andrew would have noted – had done his worst.

Nor would Andrew have been surprised at the outpouring of admiration from those on the left who truly understood him. Donna Brazile, for one, declared: “Andrew Breitbart was a conservative political combatant who was unafraid of his critics. We battled on and off air, but he was a genius.” More than a few Democrats know that unlike many in politics today – on both sides – Andrew stood for more voices, more debate, not less.

BRUCE THORNTON: IRAN SENSES WESTERN WEAKNESS

http://frontpagemag.com/2012/03/14/iran-senses-western-weakness/print/

As the clock ticks closer to a nuclear-armed Iran, the Western powers are girding their loins for––more talks. Actually, they’re getting ready to talk to Iran about the conditions for talking some more. EU foreign policy head Catherine Ashton announced that the “P5 + 1” powers (the permanent Security Council members plus Germany) hoped to persuade “Iran to move away from its nuclear program,” and expected “from the contacts we’ve had that this process can now move forward swiftly and seriously.” Ashton didn’t produce any evidence why the Iranians would voluntarily give up the bomb, or how yet one more round of negotiations, like the so-called “crippling sanctions,” will produce anything other than giving Iran more time to “swiftly and seriously” achieve nuclear-weapons capability.

Meanwhile, the Obama administration keeps shifting the conditions under which the U.S. would take military action. Secretary of State Clinton on February 29 three times told the House Foreign Affairs committee that “it’s absolutely clear that the president’s policy is to prevent Iran from having nuclear weapons capability.” A few days later anonymous “administration officials” said Clinton had “misspoken,” which Obama confirmed in his speech to AIPAC where he several times asserted that “obtaining a nuclear weapon,” not capability, would be the casus belli, even though he has no clue exactly how we’d know the mullahs had nuclear weapons before they announced it to the world, the same way we found out Pakistan and North Korea had them. The purpose of this shift is obvious: it provides more time for “diplomacy” and “sanctions” to work their magic, and puts more pressure on Israel not to do anything that might make unpleasant headlines compromising Obama’s reelection. However, the history of Pakistan and North Korea’s acquisition of nuclear weapons shows that the consequence of this delay will be a nuclear-armed Iran.

GAZA BOY DIES OF WOUNDS….ER…NO….IT WAS ARABS WHO SHOT HIM “ACCIDENTALLY”

http://news.yahoo.com/palestinians-gaza-boy-dies-wounds-082528172.html

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — A Palestinian boy accidentally struck by a bullet when militants fired in the air during a funeral died of his injuries Wednesday, family members and witnesses said.

Palestinian health official Adham Abu Salmia initially said that 8-year-old Barka al-Mugrahbi died of wounds sustained in an Israeli airstrike on Monday.

However, Israel’s military said it did not carry out a strike in the area at the time.

The boy’s relatives and witnesses later said the boy was marching in the funeral procession for a Gaza militant Monday when he was struck in the head by an errant bullet.

At the time, gunmen were firing in the air, they said.

On Tuesday, Israel and Gaza militants agreed to a truce after four days of cross-border fighting, though there have been sporadic violations. Not counting the boy, 25 Palestinians were killed in the violence.

Rocket and mortar fire from Gaza has persisted, and early Wednesday, Israel carried out a retaliatory airstrike.

J. CHRISTIAN ADAMS: WHAT’S GOING ON IN TEXAS VOTER I.D. LAW?

http://pjmedia.com/jchristianadams/2012/03/13/texas-all-hat-and-no-cattle-on-voter-id/?print=1 Folks in Texas are laying down Texas-sized boasts that they’ll fight to the last in court to get voter ID approved. Great, it should have happened a year ago. The decision to submit Texas voter ID to Eric Holder’s corrupt Justice Department was foolhardy, bordering on suicidal. There is a way to tell if […]

SECRETARY CHU: I WAS WRONG BEFORE I WAS RIGHT….HUH?

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/03/13/Sec%20Chu%20Recants%20on%20Gas%20Prices?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+BigGovernment+%28Big+Government%29

JOHN SEXTON
Shortly before he became Obama’s Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu was quoted by the Wall Street Journal as saying “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” To be clear this was uttered in September, just months before Obama chose him as Secretary.

Today, during a hearing on the Department of Energy Loan Guarantee Program, Secretary Chu was asked about this by Senator Mike Lee. Secretary Chu took the opportunity to revise and extend his previous remarks:

MARK STEYN: THE FLUKE CHARADE

http://www.nationalreview.com/blogs/print/293094
I’m writing this from Australia, so, if I’m not quite up to speed on recent events in the United States, bear with me — the telegraph updates are a bit slow here in the bush. As I understand it, Sandra Fluke is a young coed who attends Georgetown Law, and recently testified before Congress.
Oh, wait, no. Update: It wasn’t a congressional hearing; the Democrats just got it up to look like one, like summer stock, with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid doing the show right here in the barn, and providing a cardboard set for the world premiere of Miss Fluke Goes to Washington, with full supporting cast led by Chuck Schumer strolling in through the French windows in tennis whites and drawling, “Anyone for bull****?”
Oh, and the “young coed” turns out to be 30, which is what less evolved cultures refer to as early middle age. She’s a couple of years younger than Mozart was at the time he croaked, but, if the Dems are to be believed, the plucky little Grade 24 schoolgirl has already made an even greater contribution to humanity. She’s had the courage to stand up in public and demand that someone else (and this is where one is obliged to tiptoe cautiously, lest offense is given to gallant defenders of the good name of American maidenhood such as the many prestigious soon-to-be-former sponsors of this column who’ve booked Bill Maher for their corporate retreat with his amusing “Sarah Palin is a c***” routine . . . )

SHIRIN EBADI: A WARNING FOR THE WOMEN OF THE ARAB SPRING….SEE NOTE PLEASE

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203370604577265840773370720.html?mod=WSJ_Opinion_LEADTop
I hope that in the countries where people have risen against dictatorships, they will reflect on and learn from what happened to us in Iran.

MS. EBADI IS A COURAGEOUS WOMAN…BUT SHE STOPS SHORT OF DECLARING THAT SHARIA IS HER JAIL….AND THE DICTATORS ARE THE WARDENS…..DESPITE HER ASSERTIONS SHARIA LAWS ARE EXCLUSIVE EVERYWHERE THEY ARE PRACTICED…WOMEN SHOULD BE FREE TO DOFF THEIR SCARVES, DYE THEIR HAIR PURPLE IF THEY WISH AND REJECT STRICT STATE PRACTICE OF KORANIC LAWS THAT DOOM THEM…..RSK

I do not agree with the phrase “Arab Spring.” The overthrow of dictatorships is not sufficient in itself. Only when repressive governments are replaced by democracies can we consider the popular uprisings in the Middle East to be a meaningful “spring.”

Since women make up half of the region’s population, any democratic developments must improve the social and legal status of women in the Arab world. It appears the Tunisian society has strong civil institutions, and there is much hope that democracy can take hold there. But in Egypt, many political actors are talking about returning to Islamic law, which could result in a regression of rights for women and girls similar to what we experienced in Iran in 1979.

DANIEL GREENFIELD: HOW I BECAME A HATE GROUP

http://sultanknish.blogspot.com/

When I went to sleep last night, little did I know that while outside sirens competed with car alarms in the symphony that is New York City, I had already been declared a hate group.

Being declared a hate group wasn’t in my plans for the day, but like winning the lottery, it seems to be one of those things that happens when you least expect it. Except that as the little bald man in front of the bodega tells you, you have to play to win, but you don’t even have to buy a ticket to be declared an official hate group.

My first response on finding out that I was now a hate group was to look around to see where everyone else was. A hate group needs the group part and one man and a cat don’t seem to be enough. Even when the cat is a well known bigot who hates mice, birds, car alarms that go off in the middle of the night, the plumber and sudden noises.

Still the Southern Poverty Law Center had listed, “Sultan Knish a blog by Daniel Greenfield” as one of their Active Anti-Muslim Hate Groups, alongside such other vast organizations as “Faith Freedom”, a website for ex-Muslims, and “Casa D’Ice Signs”, the signs on a bar located on K-Mart Plaza in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
