CAL THOMAS: IT’S A TOUGH TIME NOW FOR THE JEWS*****

http://townhall.com/columnists/calthomas/2011/12/08/its_a_tough_time_for_jews

In a season in which there is very little “peace on Earth” and even less “good will towards men,” it is a particularly tough time for Jews, who may be finding it more and more difficult to tell who their real friends are.

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta fired an unusually harsh salvo across the Israelis bow. In a speech at a Brookings Institution forum, he urged Israel to get to the “d–n table” for peace talks. It must have escaped Panetta’s notice that the Palestinians are the ones refusing to come to the “d–n table” unless their unacceptable demands are met. These include, depending on the day, the cessation of construction projects, even on pre-1967 Israeli land, the so-called “right of return” of “Palestinian refugees,” a concession by Israel to re-draw its borders to 1967 lines — though such borders would be completely indefensible against an inevitable attack — and the re-division of Jerusalem, which Israel rightly sees as its capital. Meanwhile, the Palestinian side concedes almost nothing and fulfills none of its promises. Neither is it held accountable for its behavior.

Next, we heard from Howard Gutman, the U.S. ambassador to Belgium. In the ultimate case of blaming the victim, Gutman seemed to blame Israel for anti-Semitism when he spoke recently at an event hosted by the European Jewish Union. According to The Weekly Standard, Gutman said, “A distinction should be made between traditional anti-Semitism, which should be condemned and Muslim hatred for Jews, which stems from the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.”

RON RADOSH: OBAMA’S LAME AND SPURIOUS EFFORT TO CHANNEL TEDDY ROOSEVELT

Why Barack Obama Is not a Modern-Day Theodore Roosevelt! Posted By Ron Radosh

URL to article: http://pjmedia.com/ronradosh/2011/12/07/why-barack-obama-is-not-a-modern-day-theodore-roosevelt/

So let’s give TR the last word, when he talks about the poor:

When I say I want a square deal for the poor man, I do not mean that I want a square deal for the man who remains poor because he has not got the energy to work for himself. If a man who has had a chance will not make good, then he has got to quit.

Why do I not think we will hear words like this from Barack Obama, or find this quote in the next column by E.J. Dionne?

The faux populist Obama is at it again. Yesterday, trying to echo Theodore Roosevelt’s famous talk in Osawatomie, Kansas, in 1910 — when the former president laid out his call for a “New Nationalism.” [1] Barack Obama said yesterday: “This country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot, when everyone does their fair share and when everyone plays by the same rules.” Assuming the stance of an anti-Wall Street crusader, the president, who made a deal with Big Pharma on the drug issue and the Big Insurance Firms to gain their support for ObamaCare, pandered to the OWS crowd and tried to echo their cries about the injustice to the 99 percent of the people oppressed by Wall Street.

RAYMOND IBRAHIM: COLLECTIVE PUNISHMENT UNDER ISLAM

http://www.hudson-ny.org/2646/collective-punishment-islam During a recent altercation in Egypt, a Christian inadvertently killed a Muslim. This incident, according to an AINA report, “turned into collective punishment of all Copts in the majority Christian village.” Two Christians “not party to the altercation” were killed; others were stabbed and critically wounded. As usual, “after killing the Copts, Muslims went […]

SOEREN KERN: IS THE NEW MOROCCAN GOVERNMENT INCITING MUSLIMS IN SPAIN? SI!!

http://www.hudson-ny.org/2648/moroccan-government-inciting-muslims-spain Some 3,000 Muslim immigrants took to the streets in near Barcelona to protest recent cuts in social welfare benefits. The protest, which took place on December 5 in the industrial city of Terrassa, about 30 kilometers from Barcelona, was organized and attended by Moroccan immigrants. The size and spontaneity of the demonstration caught local […]

ANDREW McCARTHY: SENATOR RAND PAUL…WRONG ON ENEMY COMBATANTS

Strawman? http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/print/285190 Sen. Rand Paul was not just defending American citizens. He was calling for a return to pre-9/11 counterterrorism. The most refreshing thing about Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.) — the thing that comes through in his often admirable speeches and op-eds, as well as in The Tea Party Goes to Washington, the autobiographical […]

MARILYN PENN: THE OLD GRAY PAPPARAZZA….SEE NOTE PLEASE

THE NYTIMES HATES RONALD LAUDER SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE HE IS A REPUBLICAN, A CONSERVATIVE, A FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE CONFERENCE OF PRESIDENTS (THE MAJOR UMBRELLA GROUP OF JEWISH FRATERNAL AND PHILANTHROPIC ASSOCIATIONS) AN EARLY BENEFACTOR OF THE SHALEM CENTER (RIGHT) IN ISRAEL AND A PROPONENT OF JEWISH RIGHTS TO AN UNDIVIDED JERUSALEM…..THEY GREATLY PREFER THE SOROS TYPE…..RSK

Let it not go unrecorded that the New York Times did respect the mourning period for Evelyn Lauder before launching a front page non-story about how the Lauder Family shelters its enormous wealth. Even the Times had enough dignity to think twice after raking in all that money from paid obituary notices and full page ads in memory of the woman who put breast cancer front and center on the philanthropic map.

No, the Lauders haven’t done anything illegal or corrupt; yes, they have taken advantage of the all the ways our government provides for people to get deductions and manage their businesses and estates, much the same as the Sulzberger, Soros, Kennedy and Clinton families undoubtedly have. Though the Times may not have hacked in to anyone’s cell phone to get this information, the front page huge and brooding headshot of Ronald Lauder in front of his 135 million dollar Klimt comes from the same management directives as any Murdoch tabloid: make the subject look powerful, ominous and suspiciously evil…..

DIANA WEST: AFGHANISTAN-THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE PEOPLE HAVE NOT BEEN MET

http://www.dianawest.net/Home/tabid/36/EntryId/1971/Afghanistan-Unfortunately-the-Expectations-of-the-People-Have-Not-Been-Met.aspx

Dunno why I never thought of it before, but Hillary Clinton, with her diplomatic background in cattle futures, Whitewater and shaking down donors to her husband’s library-foundation in exchange for political favors, is perfectly attuned to the needs and desires of corrupto-stans and baksheeshlands….Uh-oh.

“Afghans Say Assistance Will Be Needed for Years,” the NYT reports from the Bonn conference on Afghanistan. As in $10 billion per year until 2024, says Karzai. But there’s a problem: Most of the money goes down the drain and/or into McMansions — Mo-Mansions? –in Dubai for corrupto-klepto-baksheesho-crats.

Speaker after speaker — including Mr. Karzai — described corruption and poor governance as obstacles to the country’s development, factors that have caused reluctance among many countries about sending aid, especially given the economic crises in Europe and the United States.

ANNE BAYEFSKY: RUMORS OF THE UN’S BENEFITS HAVE BEEN GREATLY EXAGGERATED

Portraying President Obama’s U.N.-centered foreign policy as consistent with American values or pro-Israel has become increasingly difficult for administration officials. The result has been a steady stream of inaccurate accounts of goings-on at the organization.

On Friday, December 2, the Obama administration made another attempt to justify its decision to join the disreputable U.N. Human Rights Council. The Council had just followed a discussion on Syria with a resolution promising to appoint a human rights investigator – four months from now in March 2012 – and rejected calls to seek the involvement of the Security Council and the International Criminal Court. The U.S. ambassador to the U.N., Susan Rice tried to praise the body’s toughness: “No nation has been the subject of more than one special session, let alone three, in such a short amount of time.”

In fact, while the Council held three special sessions on Syria between April and December 2011, it has held six special sessions on Israel and three of those occurred in a shorter amount of time, namely, between July and November 2006.

APPALLING! DEFENSE DEP’T. CLASSIFIES FT. HOOD MASSACRE AS “WORKPLACE VIOLENCE”

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/12/06/military-growing-terrorist-target-lawmakers-warn/

Sen. Susan Collins on Wednesday blasted the Defense Department for classifying the Fort Hood massacre as workplace violence and suggested political correctness is being placed above the security of the nation’s Armed Forces at home.

During a joint session of the Senate and House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday, the Maine Republican referenced a letter from the Defense Department depicting the Fort Hood shootings as workplace violence. She criticized the Obama administration for failing to identify the threat as radical Islam.

JOHN BERNARD: EGYPT’S WONDROUS TRANSFORMATION

http://letthemfight.blogspot.com/2011/12/analyzing-egypts-wondrous.html

Does anyone still remember when the proponents of the “Arab Spring” erupted with glee over the prospect of a ‘blossoming democracy’ in the midst of tyranny in Egypt? How about the thunderous applause and shrieks of adulation when the ‘rebels’ in Libya so bravely took on the hordes of Khadafy’s hell hounds?

Does anyone remember the support from the West for the Muslim Brotherhood and their even-handed and reasonable concern for the poor and abused masses in both of those countries? Do you remember the Muslim Brotherhood’s declaration that they were not interested in political power but only for the breaking of the chains of tyranny in Egypt?

Is anyone still alive that can recall Egypt’s population being defined as “secular” rather than ideological? Can you recall the elitist academics declaring that Christians and Jews had nothing to fear from the hope of a burgeoning democracy in Egypt? If you can’t, then maybe you can remember that many of us warned that what would emerge from the ashes of a crushed Mubarak Regime would be nothing short of a foreign policy nightmare for the United States, U.S. citizens and the West in general. Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood and Salafist candidates won 42 of the 52 individual seats contested in runoffs for the first stage of Egypt’s multiphase parliamentary elections.
