Last week when Joe Biden officially announced Kamala Harris as his running mate on August 12th, 2020, Harris made what amounted to one of the most dishonest speeches by a vice-presidential candidate in recent memory.  “This is a moment of real consequence for America. Everything we care about, our economy, our health, our children, the kind of country we live in, it’s all on the line,” she said.  Harris, who appears to have been honing her acting skills during the pandemic, unleashed a bevy of emotions during her remarks, as she went from “cheerful,” to “empathetic,” to “nostalgic,” to “indignant,” and finally back to “cheerful,” all in a matter of seconds.  In a desperate attempt to portray herself as humanizing, relatable, and down to earth, she instead reminded us all why the robotic Hillary Clinton was seen as untrustworthy and was immensely unpopular.  Duplicity aside, perhaps the only details of Harris’s speech more cringeworthy than her insincerity was her inability to tell the truth about virtually anything.

Harris heavily criticized President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus, blaming him for the death toll, the economic contraction, the high unemployment rate, the closure of schools, homelessness, hunger, and poverty.  “The case against Donald Trump and Mike Pence is open and shut. Just look where they’ve gotten us, more than 16 million out of work, millions of kids who cannot go back to school, a crisis of poverty, of homelessness afflicting black, brown, and indigenous people the most, a crisis of hunger afflicting one in five mothers who have children that are hungry and tragically, more than 165,000 lives that have been cut short, many with loved ones who never got the chance to say goodbye.”

So far, every speaker at the Democratic National Convention has studiously failed to even mention the violence and looting across America’s cities, a horror they have otherwise promoted by their silence and their failure to condemn it.  

Michelle Obama talked a lot about empathy but had none for the thousands of victims of the riots and extreme violence those groups have wrought upon Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, etc.  No empathy for the small business owners who have lost their only source of income, their livelihoods.  Not a word.  No empathy for the thousands of police officers who have been attacked, injured, blinded and/or defunded.  The Democrats have made common cause with the anti-police movement; blue lives no longer matter to Democrats.   

At this point, it is safe to say that the Democrat party is anti-American and decidedly anti-Constitution.  Their platform of open borders, free college tuition, health care for all comers would, as any sentient person knows, bankrupt the nation but that’s their plan and they are sticking to it. They want to abolish ICE, prisons, and the police.  Their 90-page platform is ludicrous.  ‘

The recruited speakers submitted their little screeds outrageously lying about what President Trump has accomplished, blaming him for every COVID death, virtue-signaling themselves into absurdity.   The convention so far is reminiscent of a high school project produced while the teachers were on strike — amateurish and embarrassing.  

Ms. Obama, John Kerry, Caroline Kennedy, Andrew Cuomo, Bill Clinton, poor irrelevant Hillary, et al, presumed to lecture us all on income inequality while they luxuriated in their multi-million dollar mansions. Most of them own several mansions.  Oh, and we must not re-elect the president because Orange Man Bad.  That was the extent of the wisdom in all their little Zoom talks.  Yet the Obamas, since they left office, have amassed more wealth than any other ex-presidential pair in history.  Their shallow hectoring will likely continue to be a bad joke all around.  

Meanwhile, Joe Biden remains absent while his handlers pretend he is a viable potential president.  …Who is?  The person who was the first to drop out of the presidential primaries for lack of support, the person who quite literally slept her way to the top with a powerful man, gave herself a Chinese name to garner Chinese votes, and who imprisoned countless people for marijuana use, not sale, but use.  Kamala Harris ignored the sexual abuse of young boys by priests; follow the money. In short, she was a terrible prosecutor and AG in California and is a terrible person, one without a moral compass.

I almost gave tonight’s DNC performance a miss. How could they top the fey chap pretending to be a bat while miming to a poor rendition of Buffalo Springfield’s ‘For What It’s Worth’ as a collage of kneeling athletes in ‘Black Lives Matter’ t-Shirts flitted by behind him? It was…special.

I’d say that the chap who tweeted that it was ‘the moment Trump won reelection’ was right, except that there have been so many such moments: positive ones like President Trump’s magnificent speech at Mount Rushmore last month, as well as negative ones like the Biden campaign’s pick of Kamala Harris as his running mate. One wag said that that decision was a huge in-kind donation to the Trump campaign. That sounds right to me.

I want to minute another perspicacious tweet about the mincing batman-For-What-It’s-Worth performance from my friend Roger L. Simon: ‘Stop, hey, what’s that sound…of the Democratic party’s brains falling out of their heads.’ Anyway, I looked it up: the bat fellow with the PoMo Liberace bat duds is called Billy Porter and the geezer playing the guitar was…Stephen Stills. Wow. Nearly 60 years ago he wrote that anti-war anthem. And here he was again, still. Old rockers never die: they just refuse to fade away.

Let’s admit frankly that the DNC was laboring under extraordinary duress. No, I am not thinking of the fact that their nominee is a senile basement dweller who cannot put two sentences together. That is a liability, true, but it is self-chosen. I am thinking rather of the pressure of coronavirus hysteria, which has shut down most of the country and certainly shut down the conventions of both parties. It will be interesting to see if the RNC handles things any better from a technical point of view. I hope they forgo the Zoom clips of people at home clapping: they are just pathetic.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden condemned the views of former Women’s March co-chair Linda Sarsour, who has been repeatedly accused of anti-Semitism, after she participated in a Democratic National Convention council meeting on Tuesday.

Sarsour, a Muslim activist who endorsed Biden after he announced Senator Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) as his running mate last week, spoke at the DNC’s “Muslim Delegates and Allies Assembly” on Tuesday, sparking disapproval in light of her history of controversial comments on Jews and Israel. 

“Joe Biden has been a strong supporter of Israel and a vehement opponent of anti-Semitism his entire life, and he obviously condemns her views and opposes BDS, as does the Democratic platform,” Biden spokesman Andrew Bates said, according to CNN’s Jake Tapper. “She has no role in the Biden campaign whatsoever.”

Bates then pointed out that the official Democratic platform says, “We oppose any effort to unfairly single out and delegitimize Israel, including at the United Nations or through the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement.”

The march’s co-president Tamika Mallory, who was similarly ousted over anti-Semitic controversy, also spoke at the DNC at a virtual meeting of the Democratic Black Caucus on Monday.

The former secretary of state continues peddling foreign-policy falsehoods.

I t took approximately 20 seconds for former secretary of state John Kerry to drop the first flagrant lie in his Democratic National Convention speech on Tuesday, when he claimed that the Obama administration’s so-called Iran deal had “eliminated the threat of an Iran with a nuclear weapon.” It didn’t get any better from there.

Kerry knows well that sunset provisions in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) provided Iran’s government with a pathway to building nuclear weapons in a few years. He knows well that Israel uncovered a giant cache of documents with instructions on how to jumpstart a program to build a nuclear arsenal, which undermined both the spirit and the rationale of the nonproliferation agreement Iran signed. He knows that Iran was developing ballistic-missile programs meant to deliver nuclear weapons.

Kerry’s big accomplishment was to destroy a sanctions program that was working, thereby saving the Islamic Republic from economic ruin. This allowed the Islamist government to strengthen its proxies in Syria, Lebanon, the Palestinian territories, Yemen, and Iraq.

The Democratic National Convention hosted an imam from an Islamic extremist institution on Sunday.

Noman Hussain, imam of ISM Brookfield in Wisconsin, was one of the religious leaders who took part in the convention’s “Interfaith Welcome Service.”

Hussain is a scholar at the Texas-based Qalam Institute, whose officials have advocated “the use of female sex slaves, the killing of adulterers, and incite hatred against Jews and other non-Muslims,” according to the Middle East Forum.

One of the Qalam Institute’s courses, “The Prophetic Code,” warns Muslims to strive for “cleanliness” and “purity,” so that they “do not resemble the Jews.”

The Democratic National Convention did not respond to a request for comment about Hussain’s affiliation with the Qalam Institute.

In 2012, Hussain shared a cartoon of an Israeli soldier appearing innocent on TV without it showing the soldier mercilessly shooting people in Gaza.

John Kasich took the virtual stage at the Democrat National Convention as the former Republican governor of Ohio. But that’s what he did for a living. Not what he does now.

Kasich’s current address isn’t in Ohio. It’s in the swamp.

Earlier this year, The Kasich Company, a firm founded by Kasich and Beth Hansen, his chief of staff and the operative who ran his failed presidential campaign, hired a lobbyist to work on coronavirus tax provisions as well as sundry “Federal Regulatory and Legislative Matters”.

The Kasich Company doesn’t do such prosaic things as list its clients or give any specifics of what it does and where it does it, but the former governor’s company does promise to, “deliver successful strategies to overcome local, state and federal obstacles”.

The kind of “obstacles” that have to be overcome with the aid of a lobbyist.

Anyone who followed Kasich’s career, his cynical effort to jump on the Tea Party bandwagon, followed by an even more cynical tilt leftward, won’t be surprised to see him in the swamp.

On the Democrat Convention’s first day, Michelle Obama gave a presentation taped from her Martha’s Vineyard estate. The leitmotif of her talk was “empathy,” embedded in a list of examples illustrating the Republicans’ lack of this quality. Aside from her examples being duplicitous, equally revealing was the utter lack of empathy from progressives when it comes to people who are not politically useful to them.

First consider the mendacity and distortions in Ms. Obama’s oration:

They [the “empathetic woke”] see people shouting in grocery stores, unwilling to wear a mask to keep us all safe. They see people calling the police on folks minding their own business just because of the color of their skin. They see an entitlement that says only certain people belong here, that greed is good and winning is everything because as long as you come out on top, it doesn’t matter what happens to everyone else. And they see what happens when that lack of empathy is ginned up into outright disdain. They see our leaders labeling fellow citizens enemies of the state while emboldening torch-bearing white supremacists. They watch in horror as children are torn from their families and thrown into cages, and pepper spray and rubber bullets are used on peaceful protestors for a photo-op.

Michelle’s got it backwards: it’s usually the mask-wearing Karens shouting at people without masks. And it’s unclear how she knows what’s in the mind of people who call the police when a black person is involved. Surely behavior, whether justly suspicious or not, is the reason people call the cops. Citizenship is not an “entitlement,” it’s a right for the native born. For others, it’s a right earned by successfully going through the legal process for becoming a citizen. Those are the “certain people who belong here,” and our government is empowered to determine the conditions for allowing in others. Michelle, Gordon Gekko called and wants his 37-year-old “greed is good”cliché back. It’s been exploded by the advance in global wealth––according to the World Bank average real global per capita GDP increased from $5,446.18 in 1990 to $16,233.96 in 2016––created by all those greedy free-marketeers.
