If she wasn’t the border czar, what was she doing staging a perfunctory photo op at the border after months of resisting it?

As part of its promotion of Kamala Harris’s candidacy, the legacy media is working overtime to deny that President Biden named his vice president as “border czar.”

As NR’s Matthew Wilson noted, Axios has hilariously been trying to do cleanup on its repeated labeling of Harris as “border czar.” (The BBC described her that way as well.) Joining Axios in retailing the Harris-for-president talking points are Time, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, CBS News, and no doubt many other tentacles of the media octopus.

But of course she was the border czar.

Czars in the non-Romanov sense have been around in some sense for a century or more, but the idea of a “czar” in charge of a specific policy issue really took off in the FDR administration during World War II, with a transportation czar, a shipping czar, even a synthetic-rubber czar.

The United Nations calls it “femicide,” the wanton assault, rape and murder of girls and women. It’s a cultural epidemic in Latin America.

Femicide is visible every step of the way from South America and the Northern Triangle countries to the Mexico-U.S. border. Rape trees, where women’s panties hang from branches, and rape tents, where girls and women are dragged by smugglers, dot the route. Do you think the rapes stop when illegals cross into the U.S.? No.

Now women are being victimized by migrants bringing femicide to your neighborhood. Where are the women’s rights groups? Silent. They couldn’t care less. It’s politically incorrect to criticize Latin American culture — even its tolerance for violence against females.

Last week in Queens, an Ecuadoran illegal, Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, allegedly attacked a 13-year-old girl walking home from school, held her at knife-point and raped her, recording the assault for his own future pleasure as he proceeded.

Yet “Squad” member Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) laughed off news coverage of the crime as “fear-mongering.”

Inga-Landi has a history of abusing females, including beating his pregnant wife, according to police reports. He crossed the border illegally in 2021 and was ordered to leave the country by a New York City immigration judge in Feb. 2022.

While the mass migration crisis has overwhelmingly taken place at the southern border between the United States and Mexico, there is a similar record-breaking surge across the northern border between the United States and Canada as well.

As reported by the Daily Caller, data from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) shows that fiscal year 2024 has currently seen 12,859 illegal aliens cross the northern border. This marks a far larger amount than the previous three fiscal years under Joe Biden. By comparison, there were just 916 northern border crossings in fiscal year 2021, followed by 2,238 in fiscal year 2022, and 10,021 in fiscal year 2023.

Thus, compared to the extremely low number in fiscal year 2021, the current totals for 2024 mark a staggering 1,303% increase from Biden’s first year.

In this report, illegal border crossings are defined as the number of encounters with illegal aliens that are reported by Border Patrol between any ports of entry. This does not include the number of illegals encountered at ports of entry who are deemed inadmissible.

When Biden first ran for president, he vowed to open the borders and support mass immigration, with the promise of free, taxpayer-funded benefits for illegals such as healthcare, education, and housing, with the eventual promise of amnesty for all illegals.

Based on the narrative of the left, we’re not supposed to notice anything new or negative about the unvetted foreigners rolling through on Joe Biden’s open border plan. Nothing to see here, move along.

There are those who give the flawed statistics about illegal immigrants commiting less crime than ordinary Americans, which must be very satisfying for the left to cite, given that the left believes America is a fundamentally flawed country. It’s odd how many foreigners want to come to this fundamentally flawed country, but the left has never been able to answer that one.

There are others, such as the Associated Press, which makes matters easier for us, by not printing the immigration status of people caught up in ugly crimes against Americans. That way, see, we won’t notice.

But it’s getting increasingly hard to ignore the new waves of crimes coming about from recent illegal border crossers — seems we are seeing a new grotesque crime every day, with women and children in the crosshairs almost like a slow motion Oct. 7.

The New York Post, which does notice the things the AP won’t, has a list of three:

One of the illegal Venezuelan migrants accused of strangling and killing 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray in Texas cut the ankle monitor he was given at the border after the slaying, The Post can reveal.

Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, 26, were both released into the US with GPS monitoring after illegally crossing the southern border into El Paso, Texas this year.

Rangel Martinez, who crossed the border on March 14, was released from the monitoring program on May 15 because he had no known criminal history and had complied with check-ins, sources said.

Joe Biden is very clearly in the running to be the worst U.S. president ever. To understand why that’s true, you need only look at the Democrat’s refusal to protect the integrity of our borders. It’s almost as if he wants America to disappear.

As we’ve noted here before, we do not oppose immigration. But, as with everything else, immigration is governed by laws, rules and principles. Unfortunately, when it comes to immigration, Biden simply ignores the law and instead uses presidential command in its place.

The result: chaos on our border and, increasingly, on our streets as city after city suffers from rising illegal immigrant crime. And it’s going to get worse.

Already, an estimated 7.4 million illegal immigrants have made their way into the U.S. during Biden’s presidency. That doesn’t include the nearly 2 million “gotaways” who were spotted by border officials crossing the border, but didn’t get nabbed.

“These numbers are further proof of President Biden and (Department of Homeland Security) Secretary Mayorkas’ radical commitment to open borders, and the secretary’s high crimes and misdemeanors committed to make them a reality,” House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green said in a statement on Monday.

The amnesty the White House announced today is simply the latest — and maybe not even the largest — of its many unilateral decrees legalizing and/or letting into the country individuals who have no right to be in the United States. Unless Congress is willing to completely cede its power over immigration, as it has over war-making, it will at some point need to radically restrict a president’s discretion, in detail and without waivers or wiggle room.

This latest executive diktat from the defenders of democracy would give work permits and Social Security numbers to an estimated half a million illegal-alien spouses of U.S. citizens, plus 50,000 illegal-aliens kids of those spouses. It’s called “parole in place,” which was totally made up in 2020, when Speaker Nancy Pelosi snuck it past the asleep-at-the-switch Republican Senate for the spouses of military personnel only.

Immigration parole is supposed to be a narrow exception to immigration limits, temporarily allowing in what is supposed to be a handful of inadmissible aliens for things like emergency medical treatment or court testimony, after which they’re supposed to be escorted back to the border. This administration has already used it to admit more than a million foreigners who don’t qualify for legal entry.

The parole-in-place confection paroles someone retroactively, thus legalizing a border-jumper’s infiltration into the U.S. It confers significant benefits: beyond a work permit and SSN, it also puts beneficiaries on the path to welfare eligibility, a green card, and eventual citizenship.

As my colleague Andrew Arthur points out, even if the program survives court challenge, it incentivizes large-scale fraud and will further lengthen the wait for foreign spouses of U.S. citizens who are waiting for authorization to enter the U.S. legally.
