Border Patrol Chief: Suspected Terrorists Crossing U.S. Border At Levels ‘Never Seen Before’ By Gabe Kaminsky

https://thefederalist.com/2021/08/16/border-patrol-chief-suspected-terrorists-are-crossing-u-s-border-at-levels-never-seen-before/

Amid a massive surge of migrants at the United States-Mexico border, the outgoing Border Patrol chief told his 19,000 agents prior to retiring over the weekend that known or suspected terrorists are coming into America “at a level we have never seen before.”

“Over and over again, I see other people talk about our mission, your mission, and the context of it being immigration or the current crisis today being an immigration crisis,” Rodney Scott, who retired Saturday, said in a video to employees.

“I firmly believe that it is a national security crisis. Immigration is just a subcomponent of it, and right, now it’s just a cover for massive amounts of smuggling going across the southwest border — to include TSDBs at a level we have never seen before. That’s a real threat,” he said.

The term “TSDB” is a reference to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Terrorist Screening Center Database. The database is used by government agencies and launched after the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Scott’s comments come days after U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data from July showed a 20-year record in arrests, more than 212,000, and a 13 percent increase from June. Due to migrants coming into the U.S. from Central America, the Biden administration has yanked over 40 percent of federal agents to assist in processing, custody care, and transport needs.

Biden Administration’s Dangerous Immigration Policies Demonstrate Orwellian “Doublethink” By Michael W. Cutler

https://usinc.org/biden-administrations-dangerous-immigration-policies-demonstrate-orwellian-doublethink/

George Orwell defined doublethink as, “The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them.”

Politicians traditionally put a “spin” on what they say, and how they say it. This is why most folks look askance at politicians and the promises that they make.

George Orwell, in point of fact, said, “Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.”

For quite some time these linguistic gymnastics were written off as being examples of “political correctness.” I have consistently resisted the use of the term political correctness (PC), because it creates the deceptive appearance that misleading language is used out of a desire to be considerate.

In reality, such misuse of language generally has a far more sinister motivation, to mislead folks by manipulating language to create propaganda and misinformation. Because people think with words, control of language is actually thought control. Consequently the so-called “PC Police” should be properly referred to as the “Thought Police,” another of Orwell’s creations.

This tactic is unacceptable and incongruous for freedom-loving Americans.

Eleven Senate Democrats Vote Against COVID Tests For Illegal Immigrants at the Southern Border By Debra Heine

https://amgreatness.com/2021/08/12/eleven-senate-democrats-vote-against-covid-tests-for-illegal-immigrants-at-the-southern-border/

Eleven Senate Democrats on Thursday voted against a modest and commonsense amendment to the Senate Budget Resolution that requires illegal migrants apprehended on the southern border to be tested for COVID-19 before they are transported into the country.

The amendment, introduced by Senator Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), a physician, establishes “a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting migrants and local communities against COVID-19.”  Under the provision, migrants will be quarantined and not transported from the border until they tested negative.

This minor impediment to the Regime’s goal of fundamentally transforming the nation through mass immigration was supported by Majority Whip Dick Durbin, and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.  The majority leaders urged the eleven radical Dems to switch their votes to be in favor of the amendment “to create the illusion of a united front on the issue of public health at our southern border within the Democrat Party,” according to Marshall in a statement Thursday.

In the end, the amendment passed with a final vote of 88-11.

The eleven far-left Democrats who voted against the amendment are Sens. Cory Booker (N.J.), Martin Heinrich (N.M.), Maisie Hirono (Hawaii), Ben Ray Lujan (N.M.), Ed Markey (Mass.), Bob Menendez (N.J.), Chris Murphy (Conn.), John Ossoff (Ga.), Bernie Sanders (Vt.), Tina Smith (Minn.), Liz Warren (Mass.).

How Much Worse Can It Get? By Mark Krikorian

https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/how-much-worse-can-it-get/

I thought for sure the arrest numbers at the border would go down a little in July, if only because of the brutal summer heat.

I was wrong.

Border “encounters” continued their climb under the Biden administration, reaching about 213,000, up 13 percent from June. Of those, about 200,000 were Border Patrol arrests (the rest were illegals at ports of entry).

Perhaps most alarming is that the illegal surge continues to globalize. The share of Border Patrol arrests of illegals not from Mexico or the Northern Triangle countries of Central America (Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador) has doubled over the past six months, from about 15 percent in March to 29 percent in July. (See all the numbers here and here.)

In fact, the focus on the “Northern Triangle” might have to be modified. While Guatemala and Honduras are still major sources of illegals, El Salvador has been pushed out of fourth place among source countries of illegals; of the 57,000 arrests of non-Mexican/NTCA aliens, 17,000 were from Ecuador, 1,000 miles further south, far more than the 12,000 from El Salvador. Is Vice President Harris going to fix the “root causes” in Ecuador, too?

None of this should be a surprise. My colleague Todd Bensman recently visited a smuggling hub on the Costa Rica-Nicaragua border and published a series of posts under the heading “A United Nations of Illegal Immigration,” in which he described the open transit of people from Mauretania, Cuba, Senegal, Eritrea, and elsewhere. Many are Haitians who were firmly settled in Chile and Brazil, but who are taking Biden up on his invitation to, as Bensman put it, “apply for asylum and secure an economic upgrade.” Of course, resettlement in another country makes them ineligible for asylum, meaning that all of them will lie to U.S. authorities and pretend to have come straight from Haiti.

Even as the total number of arrests rose, the number expelled under the Title 42 public-health order dropped 9 percent, to account for less than half of total arrests. This means that, with a few exceptions, the majority of illegal aliens arrested in July by the Border Patrol were released into the United States, unlikely ever to be made to leave. Of those released, perhaps half won’t even bother to apply for asylum, having successfully used a claim of fear as a gambit for release; of those who do apply, most will be rejected, but stay anyway. That means in July, the Biden border crisis will have been responsible for at least, say, 75,000 new illegal aliens (not counting the got-aways, whose numbers are documented (by remote cameras and other means) to have been increasing as the Border Patrol is overwhelmed with caring for the families and teens Biden’s policies have attracted).

Border Patrol Encountered 212,000 Migrants in July, Breaking 21-Year Record By Caroline Downey

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/number-of-migrant-encounters-at-border-surpasses-200000-for-first-time-in-21-years/

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced Thursday that border patrol agents apprehended over 212,000 undocumented migrants in July, breaking the 200,000 threshold for the first time in 21 years, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data.

During a stop at the border in Texas, Mayorkas commented that 212,672 migrants were encountered in July, a 13 percent increase over the influx of 188,000 migrants encountered in June. He acknowledged that the rapidly deteriorating situation at the border constitutes a crisis, calling it “one of the toughest challenges we face.”

He added that 95,788 of those detainees, mostly single adults rather than families, were expelled under Trump-era Title 42 authorizing border officials to deport migrants suspected of positive COVID infection who could pose a public health risk. This, however, represented a 10,000 person decrease in the number of migrants who removed under that measure in June.

While conceding that the statistics are daunting, Mayorkas offered that the border emergency is not a black and white issue, adding, “It is complicated, changing and involves vulnerable people at a time of a global pandemic.”

The administration previously predicted that the number of migrant encounters would drop off during the hot summer months, as is typical.

The secretary confirmed that the crisis has particularly escalated in recent months, with skyrocketing border apprehensions over the summer. While he suggested that the upticks in border crossings originated under former President Trump’s leadership, starting in April 2020, he recognized that “the increase is most certainly sharper over the last several months and greater than in June.”

Mayorkas’ statement lends credence to the assertions of many Republican lawmakers  that Biden’s negligence on border enforcement and revocation of rules implemented under Trump have created an unprecedented border disaster.

$3.5 Trillion Budget Reconciliation Package Includes Mass Amnesty for Millions of Illegals By Eric Lendrum

https://amgreatness.com/2021/08/10/3-5-trillion-budget-reconciliation-package-includes-mass-amnesty-for-millions-of-illegals/

The Democrats’ massive budget reconciliation package, finally revealed on Monday, includes a plan to give mass amnesty to “millions of” illegal aliens in the United States, according to The Hill.

The $3.5 trillion spending package will provide $107 billion for the Senate Judiciary Committee to determine the fastest route for providing blanket amnesty, with a deadline of September 15th to come up with such a solution. The bill itself does not single out any particular group of illegals or preferred methods, but instead orders the committee to provide “lawful permanent status for qualified immigrants,” as well as handing out green cards to “millions of immigrant workers and families.”

The bill’s proposal represents a drastic expansion of Democrats’ prior amnesty efforts, which previously only covered so-called “Dreamers,” illegal aliens who came to the United States as minors. New proposals put forward by Democrats in the House of Representatives have also called for giving amnesty to illegals who work on farms, illegals who hold jobs that have been declared “essential” during the pandemic, and illegals who have already been granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS). This would ultimately account for roughly 10 million illegals who would immediately be given amnesty under the new plan.

Republicans in the Senate have tried to negotiate the amnesty down to just 700,000 by encompassing only those who would have qualified under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) plan, an executive order signed by then-President Barack Obama which was recently overturned by a federal judge in Texas. Senators John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) have specified that their counter-proposal would only affect the 700,000 who applied during the Obama Administration, and not the 1.3 million who attempted to apply during the Trump Administration.

In response, Democrats referred to debunked economic arguments claiming that illegals are good for the economy, with Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) saying that “the deportation of hundreds of thousands of DACA recipients who are helping our nation’s economy recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic makes little sense.”

Biden’s Immigration Policies Vs. National Security & Public Safety Administration orders “shields down” in the midst of numerous foreign threats. Michael Cutler

https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/2021/08/bidens-immigration-policies-undermine-national-michael-cutler/

With just about all attention focused on the crisis on the U.S./Mexican border, scant if any attention is being paid to the many other ways aliens may enter the United States in violation of our immigration laws.

I have frequently written about the irrefutable fact that the United States has 50 border states and not just the four border states that abut with the Mexican border.

In addition to the four “border states” that everyone is well aware of, any state that lies along our nation’s northern border, lies along our nation’s 95,000 miles of coastline or has an international airport are all “border states.”

Aliens who run our nation’s borders are entering the United States without inspection, but then so do aliens who stow away on ships and then sneak off those ships.  Boats undoubtedly make landfall along our 95,000 mile coastline and enable aliens to also evade the inspections process that is mandated by immigration laws and protect the United States from the entry and presence of aliens who may pose a threat to national security, public safety, public health and the jobs and wages of Americans.

On June 6, 1993 a dilapidated and vermin-infested boat, the Golden Venture ran aground in the Rockaways, a coastal neighborhood in Queens, New York.  On board were some 300 illegal aliens from China who had paid alien smugglers thousands of dollars to enter the United States without inspection and they hoped, without detection.

Why the Border Crisis Is Here to Stay By Andrew C. McCarthy •

https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/08/why-the-border-crisis-is-here-to-stay/

Absent a credible impeachment threat, President Biden and the progressives are only going to continue abetting illegal immigration.

D on’t blame me, blame the Supreme Court — along with congressional Republicans, Republican presidents, and Washington’s entrenched post-sovereign, transnational–progressive political establishment. But don’t say you weren’t warned: The only hope for reestablishing security on the southern border is a credible threat to impeach President Biden.

And don’t bet on that emerging from a Democrat-dominated House.

That blunt reality is elucidated by the Biden administration’s assault on any remaining vestige of state sovereignty. In El Paso federal court, the Justice Department has sued Texas and Governor Greg Abbott for attempting to protect the state from waves of illegal aliens who are streaming into the country.

The federal government is aiding and abetting illegal immigration. That is a violation of federal law and thus another manifestation of Biden’s disregard for his solemn duty to execute the laws faithfully, on unabashed display this week with his dictatorial eviction-moratorium decree, which he and his administration concede is unconstitutional.

Immigration law commands that aliens who do not have a legal right to be present in the United States “shall be detained pending a final determination of credible fear of persecution and, if found not to have such a fear, until removed.” That is, even those who credibly claim to fear persecution if returned from whence they came — the infinitesimally small percentage of legitimate refugees among the hordes now seeking entry — are supposed to be held in custody until that claim is fully adjudicated.

But Biden has signaled that the border is open and that those who try to cross illegally stand an excellent chance of getting in and staying. Rhetorically, the president pretends the laws are being enforced, but he knows this is impossible in the conditions he has willfully created. The government is woefully short of the detention space, enforcement personnel, and administrative resources that would be needed to handle the vast migrant crowds arriving daily.

Over 800 Migrant Children Detained at Border in Highest Daily Total This Year By Zachary Evans

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/over-800-migrant-children-detained-at-border-in-highest-daily-total-this-year/

Border Patrol agents detained 834 unaccompanied migrant children at the U.S.–Mexico border on Wednesday, according to data released by the Department of Health and Human Services.

That number is the highest since the Biden administration began reporting daily total apprehensions of migrant children earlier this year.

The number of children in custody of U.S. Customs and Border Protection rose to 2,784 on Wednesday. Unaccompanied children are typically held in CBP facilities before being transferred to the Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees care for unaccompanied minors. There are currently 14,523 children in HHS facilities.

The release comes after the Department of Homeland Security estimated that 210,000 migrants crossed the southern border in July, in court documents filed on August 2. That number includes an estimated 19,000 unaccompanied minors for the month of July, in what would be the highest monthly total since the year 2000.

The Biden administration has struggled to process hundreds of thousands of migrants who have illegally crossed into the U.S. in recent months. Border agents encountered 188,829 migrants in June, the highest monthly total in a decade, along with 180,641 migrants in May, 178,850 in April, and 173,265 in March.

On Monday the administration renewed a Title 42 policy allowing border agents to expel migrants directly back into Mexico without a court hearing, citing the risk of coronavirus spread. However, unaccompanied minors are exempt from that policy.

It Isn’t Immigration, It’s a Government-Sponsored Invasion Laura Hollis

Do you know how many people have come across the border illegally so far this year?

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP), it’s 1.1 million people, and the numbers are rising every month.

According to the USCBP’s website, more than 75,000 people crossed the border illegally in January of this year. In February, that number climbed to more than 97,000. In March, it was more than 169,000. In April, 173,000. More than 180,000 people crossed the southern border in May. In June, it was almost 189,000. The June number was a 450% increase over June of 2020, and more than 4% increase from May’s numbers.

USCBP just released the figures for July: 210,000 illegal immigrants crossed the U.S. border that month alone. That is the highest monthly total in more than two decades.

The number of illegals is already more than twice the total number of those who crossed the border during the entire last year of former President Donald Trump’s term — and these are just the ones we know of.

This is not merely a crisis; it is an existential threat.

First, these are election-changing numbers. As we’ve seen, a few thousand additional votes here and there can flip important counties in battleground states, and in so doing, affect the outcome of elections. We’re now talking about millions. Newsweek put it this way: the number of people who have come to this country illegally so far this year is already large enough to “create the tenth largest city in the U.S.”

Regardless of what the migrants’ own objectives for coming to America are, the Democrats’ plan is for these people to vote. Democrats in Congress have been pushing for “amnesty” for illegal immigrants, granting them citizenship and the right to vote. They’re currently trying to use the budget “reconciliation” process, which would enable them to pass such legislation this summer – well before the 2022 midterms, and without any Republican support.

How many undocumented immigrants are in the U.S.? The “official” number, at least before the 2021 surge, was around 11 million. But organizations like the Foundation for American Immigration Reform estimate that it is quite a bit higher. FAIR’s estimate in 2019 was closer to 15 million.

Even if it is the lower number, at this rate, more than 2 million people – or twenty percent of the number of illegals already here – will have come into this country illegally by the end of 2021. If this continues — and there are no indications that it will stop — how many people will have entered the country illegally by the end of Biden’s first term? 8 million? 10 million?
