Picking a vice president candidate can be a monumental and life and history altering choice. Harry Truman a plain-spoken haberdasher with no significant secondary education became an accidental President upon the death of F.D.R.
In June 1947 he became the first president to address the NAACP. Here are some excerpts from his speech:
“Our immediate task is to remove the last remnants of the barriers which stand between millions of our citizens and their birthright. There is no justifiable reason for discrimination because of ancestry, or religion, or race, or color.”
“We must not tolerate such limitations on the freedom of any of our people and on their enjoyment of basic rights which every citizen in a truly democratic society must possess. Every man should have the right to a decent home, the right to an education, the right to adequate medical care, the right to a worthwhile job, the right to an equal share in making the public decisions through the ballot, and the right to a fair trial in a fair court. We must ensure that these rights — on equal terms — are enjoyed by every citizen. To these principles I pledge my full and continued support.”
He went on to name the first presidential civil rights commission and legislative program and In July 1948 by executive order he desegregated the U.S. armed services.
That was the Democrat party then which inspired so many adherents among all American minorities and now they have the boneheaded “civil rights “rhetoric of Presidential candidate Biden. What happened? Rsk

There is a huge, really huge story out there about an attempted coup of an elected President by a rogue’s list of high ranking officials and legislators leading up the White House stairs to former President Obama. When the investigations conclude and the dust settles it could be the greatest political scandal of our time. The mainstream media skims and airbrushes the issue.

The rebirth of a belief in and an enthusiasm for socialism and government planning among a noticeable number of academics, intellectuals, young people, and elected officials raises many of the fundamental issues surrounding freedom and command, market competition and political control.
Once more, a call is heard for doing away with free enterprise, this time in the name of a Green New Deal. The case is being made, again, that humankind must take the future of society into their own hands and remake it into forms and directions that are more rational and just than what results when “capitalism” runs unrestrained over the societal terrain in the pursuit of personal profit rather than goals advancing the common good and the general welfare.
Social justice, it is said, requires doing away with the income inequalities that emerge from the free play of supply and demand, because free-market–based results are all meant to distribute the most wealth into the hands of a few at the expense of the many. The “purpose” of the capitalist system is to exploit workers, minorities, and other victimized groups so the rich can be, well, rich.
The most frustrating elements in all this for the friend of freedom is how much of it has all been heard before, over and over again, during the last two hundred years. There is little in the latest versions of these statements that was not said in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Well two items of potential good news:
Apparently in New York City the pandemic has peaked and hospitalizations are down, testing is up both for Covid and for antibodies.
Also what would appear to be good news:
Deaths from organ failure, heart disease, end stage cancer, strokes and autoimmune disorders are way down. Or, are they really?
And here is what I’m piqued about: The aforementioned illnesses have not abated. What is happening throughout New York hospitals is that many death certificates indicate Coronavirus, even if other serious maladies caused death. I have heard this from doctors and other medical personnel.
This is scandalous! It will make gathering of real data and critical statistics virtually impossible. It requires a serious media or hospitals investigation. rsk

Joseph Biden’s original and forceful response to a pandemic were he to be President.
He would: Seal the borders with China and Europe once it is established that Covid19 is a threat; seek the counsel of all national health organizations and create a team to study and advise; involve industry in producing ventilators, medical equipment, and all gear for hospital workers; engage the National Guard and the Army Corps of engineers to build hospitals and retool existing spaces to be used for patient care; advise governors and mayors to impose lockdowns, social distancing, and other mitigations; prepare a trillion dollar rescue and loan plan for those businesses that suffer severe losses due to restraint of all commerce and trade; promote all promising research and evaluation of medications and vaccines.
In spite of skepticism about his mental faculties, it is clear that he can still plagiarize, just as he did in 1987 when he ended his presidential run after revelations that he had lifted phrases from a British politician while making closing remarks at a debate. Apparently he often used quotes and phrases without attribution, and confessed to having been accused of plagiarism in law school…..rsk
President Trump is right. Something weird in the party planning for the election in November. There has been not a whiff of support for Joe Biden from former President Obama and Bernie Sanders is holding on to his delegates.
Bernie smells a set-up. I think he is right. Biden grows more silly (kinder than incoherent) by the day and the desperate Dems are floating the idea of a draft Cuomo scenario.
Bernie would reject that and garner his loyal troops and delegates for a challenge. He came in second and therefore correctly feels that should Biden step down, he should be the nominee.
