Ron Klain says Biden’s got inflation licked so all’s hunky dory By Monica Showalter

Just as Joe Biden gets ready to declare his plan to run for reelection, out come the cuckoos from Clock Biden, telling us there’s nothing to see anymore on inflation. It’s all gone, so put those coupons and calculators at the supermarket away.

That’s what we are effectively getting from White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, who, after assuring us inflation was ‘transitory’ now assures us inflation is all done and over with.

Now, what he’s referring to is a January 5 Wall Street Journal op-ed by Democrat political fixture Alan Blinder, who’s a professor of economics at Princeton these days. Blinder avers that the Fed’s successive rate hikes have brought the rate of increases down, and so, the month-on-month inflation rate is indeed 2.5%. What’s pesky, he notes, is that everyone is looking at the annual inflation rate, which currently stands at 7.1%.

According to Matt Margolis, writing at PJMedia:

“When inflation was at 40-year highs, there was no shortage of coverage. But now,” he tweeted, pointing to a report that inflation in the second half of 2022 decreased to 2% after climbing to a rate above 7%.

According to data released by the U.S. Labor Department on Dec. 13, the annual inflation rate for the 12 months ending in November 2022 was 7.1%, down from 7.7% before.

The annual inflation rate was 7.0% in 2021 and 1.4% in 2020. The highest annual inflation rate under President Trump was 2.3%

Governor DeSantis is picking a fight with the academic left, and it’s a shrewd move. By Thomas Lifson

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2023/01/governor_desantis_is_picking_a_fight_with_the_academic_left_and_its_a_shrewd_move_.html

I am thrilled that Ron DeSantis is putting in place people who want to reverse the woke academic coup d’état at one state-run institution of higher education. New College of Florida is a rarity: a public liberal arts small college (675 students) that is part of the State University System of Florida, where in-state tuition is under $7000 a year.

Zac Anderson of the Sarasota Herald Tribune writes:

Gov. Ron DeSantis began the process Friday of transforming Sarasota’s New College of Florida into a more conservative institution, appointing six new board members, including conservative activist Christopher Rufo, a dean at conservative Hillsdale College and a senior fellow at The Claremont Institute, a right-wing think tank.

“It is our hope that New College of Florida will become Florida’s classical college, more along the lines of a Hillsdale of the south,” Florida Education Commissioner Manny Diaz said in a statement.

The shakeup of the 13-member board is certain to create major tensions at New College, an institution that started as a progressive private school before becoming the state’s liberal arts honors college. The small school’s student body and faculty have a reputation for leaning left politically.

West Point Begins Its Erasure of Robert E. Lee Alex Parker

How much has America changed? Well, consider moves being made at West Point.

Over the summer, Washington’s Naming Commission — comprised of four civilians and as many retired military vets — came to final conclusions regarding seven different Department of Defense “assets.” In its report, the group recommended a renaming of sites honoring Confederate General Robert E. Lee, along with Generals P.G.T. Beauregard and William Hardee.

And over the holidays, the United States Military Academy at West Point began the process of purging Lee from its hallowed halls.

As relayed by the Daily News, Superintendent Lieutenant General Steve Gilland released a December 26th statement:

“During the holiday break, we will begin a multi-phased process, in accordance with Department of Defense directives, to remove, rename or modify assets and real property at the United States Military Academy and West Point installation that commemorate or memorialize the Confederacy or those who voluntarily served with the Confederacy.”

“We will conduct these actions with dignity and respect,” he added.

Included in the extraction: a 20-foot portrait of the man who served as superintendent of the United States Military Academy from 1852 to 1855. The 1931 painting of Lee has long towered over cadets in West Point’s Jefferson Hall library.

Huge Development in Kari Lake’s Election Lawsuit By Matt Margolis

https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/matt-margolis/2022/12/13/huge-development-in-kari-lakes-election-lawsuit-n1653242

Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors members, and Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake were all summoned to appear in court by the judge presiding over Lake’s electoral complaint.

“The Court has reviewed Plaintiffs’ Verified Statement of Election Contest filed December 9, 2022. Because this matter is an election challenge, the return hearing will be set on an accelerated basis,” Judge Peter Thompson wrote in his order.

Earlier this month, Obama-appointed U.S. District Judge John Tuchi sanctioned Lake and her lawyers for filing what he claimed was a frivolous, partisan lawsuit, prompting a harsh rebuke from Lake. This new order from Judge Thomspon appears to take the matter more seriously. Thompson was appointed to the bench in September 2010 by former Gov. Jan Brewer.

The previous two elections in Maricopa County, Ariz., have been controversial for how poorly they were conducted. Last year, a forensic audit of the presidential election found thousands of discrepancies in the county. On Election Day this year, many Republicans were expected to vote for Kari Lake. But in the districts where most Republicans were expected to cast their ballots, technical problems prevented thousands of individuals from voting.

Joe Biden, border dodger: Grace Curley

https://spectatorworld.com/topic/joe-biden-southern-border-dodger-immigration/?

President Joe Biden doesn’t answer many questions without his handler-approved list of reporters.

So when he does occasionally go rogue, you can rest assured his answers are coming from the heart.

Last week, when Fox News reporter Peter Doocy — or as Joe likes to call him, the “one-horse pony” — asked the president why he didn’t plan on visiting the border during his trip to Arizona, Joe had a rare moment of honesty.

“There are more important things going on,” he shouted on the White House South Lawn.

Arizonans — and the rest of America — might disagree. A Gallup poll earlier this year showed that 41 percent of Americans worry “a great deal” about illegal immigration.

In August, Arizona governor Doug Ducey, frustrated by the lack of help from the Biden administration, instructed crews to fill gaps in the border fencing with shipping containers. A few months later in October, the Bureau of Reclamation asked the state to remove them. Ducey ignored the request and has continued to send the shipping containers to the makeshift border wall.

At a press conference last week, a bipartisan group of lawmakers explained another facet of the border crisis: fourteen Custom and Border Protection employees have committed suicide in 2022 and six have been killed in the line of duty.

Does any of this seem important yet, Joe? If not, we should probably go over the pressing items that comprise Biden’s “More Important Things To Do” List.

A Corrupt, Evil Regime Intent on Imprisoning Trump J.B. Shurk,

https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2022/12/a_corrupt_evil_regime_intent_on_imprisoning_trump.html

Gunrunner, never-charged criminal, political hack, and perpetually aggrieved former attorney general Eric Holder is back, bloviating about President Trump being imminently arrested.  Given that we live in post-Republic times and that the Department of (in)Justice has exhibited no shame or remorse in its years-long campaign of political persecution and partisan double-standards, I’ll take Obama’s contemptible “wingman” at his word just this once.  So Democrats, Establishment Republicans, and the Deep State Leviathan plan on humiliating President Trump by frog-marching him before the world and tossing him in the clink.

So what?  They’ve been telegraphing this play for months, if not years.  We get it.  The U.S. government is irredeemably corrupt, we’ve officially entered banana republic territory, and all the worst tyrants in D.C. plan on rounding up and punishing anyone brave enough to fight back or dissent.

News flash, Deep State: You kind of got your point across when Hillary Clinton’s political henchmen and Barack Obama’s FBI (political henchmen with badges?) worked with the Intelligence Community to frame candidate Trump as a Russian spy six years ago and none of the perpetrators ended up in prison.  You made things quite clear when you gave tens of millions of dollars to Andrew Weissmann to run the Mueller Inquisition, so that he and his Democrat friends could pave over the lawless bureaucracy’s Russia Hoax tracks; harass the Trump administration in pursuit of nonexistent crimes; and immunize Hillary, the FBI, and their political agents from prosecution.

When you started locking up anybody remotely connected to the president for excrement-laden process crimes that were used as part of a stick-or-carrot approach to suborn false testimony against Trump, most of us understood that America had descended into a Lavrentiy Beria Soviet police State once and for all.

For the slow learners out there, these people made things very easy to understand when they decided to use members of the military (who in the old days would have just been called “double agents” or “saboteurs” but are now venerated as “whistleblowers”) to impeach President Trump for a quid-pro-quo hoax in order to damage his re-election campaign and cover up Joe Biden’s actual quid-pro-quo scheming in Ukraine, China, and elsewhere.

We watched state attorneys general, secretaries of state, and both federal and state courts look the other way while mail-in ballot dumps and suspicious “pauses” in vote-counting (in explicit violation of state statutory laws) were used to flip battleground states days after the 2020 election and hand Biden an inexplicable “victory” over a sitting president who had won nearly every bellwether county across the country by double-digits, expanded his 2016 vote totals by over ten million, and received more votes than any incumbent in history — all feats that had meant certain vict

Communism’s hundred-year war on humanity We need to connect the pieces to see the big picture: By Don Feder

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2022/dec/2/communisms-hundred-year-war-on-humanity/

When Bolsheviks stormed the Winter Palace in 1917, it wasn’t just the start of the Russian Revolution, but the beginning of communism’s century-long war on humanity.

The global conflict has included civil wars and culture wars, gulags and killing fields, indoctrination and subversion, planned starvation and ethnic cleansing.

It’s the forever war, fought on five continents, for a system that has failed miserably wherever it’s been imposed, but still never lacks true believers willing to kill for its utopian vision. And (bitter irony) they commit unspeakable crimes in the name of humanity.

We fought communism directly in Korea and Vietnam and covertly throughout the 20th century. It created the sexual revolution and the terrorist war on the West. Critical race theory is its brainchild, wokeism its handmaiden.

The storm unleashed by Lenin and his gang still rages, from China to Caracas, and from Ukraine to American cities.

In China, protests against the regime’s draconian lockdowns (which include the bolting shut the doors of apartments) have quickly spread across the country. COVID-19 controls were the spark, but the protests quickly became demands for democracy and the ouster of Chinese ruler Xi Jinping.

At one demonstration, a local communist party boss warned protesters against being manipulated by “foreign influences.” A man in the crowd shot back: “Do you mean Marx and Engels?”

The Chinese Communist Party has presided over the bloodiest regime in history. Since 1949, it has killed as many as 50 million in the Great Leap Forward, the Cultural Revolution and all of the other attempts to remake mankind.

Medical ‘experts’ struggle to explain Africa’s very low Covid vaccination and death rates By Thomas Lifson

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2022/11/medical_experts_struggle_to_explain_africas_very_low_covid_vaccination_and_death_rates.html

Even in the face of data showing that Covid “vaccines” do not prevent transmission of the virus but do cause extremely high rates of adverse events to be reported, the US (and much of the world’s) medical establishment remains fully committed to pushing universal vaccinations. The G20 meeting recently included plans for a global vaccine passport that would prevent international travel by those who have resisted the pressure to receive the spike protein-laden jabs, and many august institutions of higher learning such as Yale and the University of California demand that their young and (mostly) healthy students receive the spike protein dosages as a condition of study on campus.

If there is one dramatic case study that seems to upend the vaccination absolutists, it is Africa, many of whose countries are too poor to have mass vaccination programs, yet which has the lowest death toll from Covid in the world. The AP reported last year: Scientists mystified, wary, as Africa avoids COVID disaster

[T]here is something “mysterious” going on in Africa that is puzzling scientists, said Wafaa El-Sadr, chair of global health at Columbia University. “Africa doesn’t have the vaccines and the resources to fight COVID-19 that they have in Europe and the U.S., but somehow they seem to be doing better,” she said.

Fewer than 6% of people in Africa are vaccinated. For months, the WHO has described Africa as “one of the least affected regions in the world” in its weekly pandemic reports.

Some researchers say the continent’s younger population — the average age is 20 versus about 43 in Western Europe — in addition to their lower rates of urbanization and tendency to spend time outdoors, may have spared it the more lethal effects of the virus so far. Several studies are probing whether there might be other explanations, including genetic reasons or past infection with parasitic diseases.

When Election Day Lasts For A Month

https://issuesinsights.com/2022/11/14/when-election-day-lasts-for-a-month/

On Sunday, five days after “Election Day,” Americans still didn’t know which party will have a majority in the House while two states were waiting to find out who their next governors will be. Even the BBC has been wondering “when will we know who won.” Have the delays been caused by incompetence or malign forces? Surely both, but it’s the latter that has had the biggest impact.

Forty-two years ago, on the evening of Nov. 4, 1980, the day of the election, President Jimmy Carter conceded to his Republican challenger Ronald Reagan at 9:50 pm Eastern Standard Time. Eight years later – on Election Day – Democratic nominee Michael Dukakis called George H.W. Bush, the GOP’s candidate, and congratulated him on his win.

Hard to believe that many of us grew up going to bed on election night knowing not only who won the presidential election, but who came out on top of many other races, as well. But that’s changed. We no longer have an Election Day. We have Election Week, Election Month – and worse.

Blame Al Gore. The vice president for the man who ran a “permanent campaign” during eight years in the White House kicked off the “permanent election” in 2000 by retracting his concession to George W. Bush on the evening of Election Day. He then put the country through more than a month of turmoil, dragging out a challenge that went well beyond his right for a recount in Florida. His effort to count the votes until he had enough to win had to be ended by the U.S. Supreme Court.

We don’t know how many races, if any, the Democrats have stolen or are stealing in this year’s midterm elections. But they have a reputation for fixing elections. Think of 1960 and Mayor Richard Daley’s Chicago machine and John Kennedy’s tight win over Richard Nixon. Historian and Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson biographer Robert Dallek, believed that Daley “probably stole Illinois from Nixon.”

Start with that history, then add to it the fact that Democrats are thoroughly convinced of the righteousness of their policy positions, blend in their taste for exercising raw political power, and the dish that’s produced is poisonous to fair elections.

How Election Integrity Has Been Destroyed In Arizona (And Elsewhere) Patrick Wood

https://www.technocracy.news/how-election-integrity-has-been-destroyed-in-arizona-and-elsewhere/

Because I live in Arizona, I have wondered and scratched my head as to why a fundamentally “red” state ends up with “blue” politicians. Such was the case during the 2020 election when Donald Trump was overwhelmingly popular and yet lost the state. Such is the case right now with the Governor’s race between Kari Lake and Katie Hobbs. Now I know the answer.

Republicans seek voters, Democrats seek ballots.

This is so simple and obvious that it has escaped everyone’s attention, including mine. According to the article below, “when ballots are more important than votes – the election will always favor the former.”

Republican candidate Kari Lake has stumped throughout Arizona and won the hearts of our citizens. Her Democrat opponent, Katie Hobbs, has hidden herself from public exposure, refusing to even be seen with Lake on a stage or anywhere else. As a candidate, in fact, Hobbs could rightly be described as reclusive.

Here is the heart of matter: Lake is seeking voters while Hobbs is seeking ballots. The same could be said for the Senate race between Republican Blake Masters and Democrat Mark Kelly. Further, this is true across all major races in Arizona. Republicans seek voters while Democrats seek ballots.

What happened in Arizona? On election day, ballots were collected as many people voted in person. Mailed in and dropped off ballots were also collected. Next, the whole collection of ballots were brought to a central location (in each county). In Maricopa County, Sheriff’s deputies barricaded the counting facility and posted armed sentinels on the roof. The counting process was going to take a long time, they said. Days later, they are still not finished.
