Trump’s Covid experience will re-define him and reset the election Thomas Lifson

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2020/10/trumps_covid_experience_will_redefine_him_and_reset_the_election_.html

“Fredrich Nietzsche famously stated, ““That which does not kill us, makes us stronger.” I would never have expected Donald Trump to be a follower of Nietzsche, but he may end up exemplifying one of his claims.”

Rather than seal the doom of President Trump’s re-election battle, as most of his haters expect and not a few of his supporters fear, I see strong signs that President Trump will use his experience with Covid to re-define himself and act as an inflection point, resetting the election. Watch carefully for a “New Trump” to emerge from Walter Reed Hospital, dare I say a kinder, gentler Trump, one humbled by his brush with mortality and a far more sympathetic figure in the eyes of many voters who have found him a bit too much to take. Too rough around the edges, too aggressive, too arrogant, too crude… the whole nine yards of distaste that he has evoked in the eyes of his enemies and even some who support his policies.

Watch the video that he tweeted out at 2:16 PM yesterday, just prior to boarding The Beast for a drive past the supporters who have gathered outside Walter Reed.

Pay particular attention to what he says, starting 52 seconds into the video:

It’s been a very interesting journey. I’ve learned a lot about Covid. I’ve learned it by really going to school – this is the real school, this isn’t a ‘let’s read a book school’ … and I get it. And I understand it, and it’s a very interesting thing and I’ll be letting you know about it. And in the meantime, we love the USA and we love what’s happening. Thank-you

Democratic Bile Will Reelect Trump David Catron

The Democrats and their friends in the Fourth Estate could hardly believe their luck when the news broke that President Trump had contracted COVID-19. They clearly believe he is finished politically and that their Potemkin presidential candidate will now win the upcoming election in a walk. The following headline from Politico captures this collective delusion: “Biden looks to seal election after Trump’s week from hell.” This is precisely how they reacted to the Hollywood Access tape that was released at the same point in the 2016 presidential race. Most “experts” pronounced the Trump campaign dead, and Hillary Clinton began measuring the drapes for the Oval Office.

What none of these people bothered to do was calibrate the effect of the tape on Trump’s actual supporters. Consequently, we began to see headlines like this one published by CBS News on October 10, 2016: “Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump by 14 points nationally.” This story attributed Clinton’s illusory lead to the “lewd comments about women in 2005.” By October 18, the RealClearPolitics average indicated that Clinton’s alleged lead in the national polls had grown to 7.1 percent. In the end, of course, Trump voters ignored the Hollywood Access tape, and he had far more supporters in key battleground states than the pollsters and pundits imagined in their wildest nightmares.

Fast-forwarding to the present, Trump is arguably in a better position politically than he was after his 2016 “week from hell.” He is purportedly behind in the national polls again, but the most accurate 2016 poll again shows a closer race than its counterparts, and recent studies suggest his support could be significantly understated due to the shy Trump voter phenomenon. Moreover, the celebratory response of the Democrats and the media to Trump’s illness will almost certainly increase his support. On CNN, in the midst of a tedious discussion about “mixed signals” from the White House, New Yorker staff writer Masha Gessen actually compared Trump’s condition to Stalin’s death:

There have been a lot of comparisons to the Soviet Union in the last couple of days. I think they are not unwarranted. The particular period I am thinking about is something I have written about a lot, which were the days of Stalin’s deathwatch.… When the foreign correspondents and the domestic correspondents, such as they were, all knew what was going on. Nobody was giving them any information.… Everybody was expecting the final call, right? And the planet filled with rumor.

President Trump to Appoint Tom Fitton to Court Oversight Which Has Power to Remove Certain Judges For Misconduct By Cristina Laila

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/10/president-trump-appoint-tom-fitton-co

President Trump plans to name Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton to a court oversight agency which has the power to remove certain judges for misconduct.

The White House on Friday announced Trump’s intention to name Tom Fitton to the D.C. Commission on Judicial Disabilities and Tenure.

Tom Fitton is currently the president of conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch.

Recall, it was Judicial Watch that broke the story wide open about Hillary Clinton’s private email server in 2015.

Judicial Watch is currently spearheading dozens of lawsuits in an effort to obtain Biden’s senate records, Strzok and Page communications, Hillary Clinton’s emails, Fauci’s emails with China and WHO just to name a few.

Judicial Watch’s lawsuits have also forced many states to clean up their voter rolls.

LOCKDOWN: The New Totalitarianism Jeffrey A. Tucker

https://www.aier.org/article/lockdown-the-new-totalitarianism/

Every political ideology has three elements: a vision of hell with an enemy that needs to be crushed, a vision of a more perfect world, and a plan for transitioning from one to the other. The means of transition usually involve the takeover and deployment of society’s most powerful tool: the state. For this reason, ideologies trend totalitarian. They depend fundamentally on overriding people’s preferences and choices and replacing them with scripted and planned belief systems and behaviors.

An obvious case is communism. Capitalism is the enemy, while worker control and the end of private property is the heaven, and the means to achieve the goal is violent expropriation. Socialism is a softer version of the same: in the Fabian tradition, you get there through piecemeal economic planning.

The ideology of racism posits something different. The hell is ethnic integration and race mixing, the heaven is racial homogeneity, and the means of change is the marginalization or killing off of some races. Fascism imagines global trade, individualism, and immigration to be the enemy while a mighty nationalism is heaven: the means of change is a great leader. You can observe the same about certain brands of theocratic religious traditionalism.

Each of these ideologies comes with a primary intellectual focus, a kind of story designed to occupy the mind. Think about exploitation. Think about inequality. Think about race theory. Think about national identity. Think about salvation. Each comes with its own language to signal one’s attachment to the ideology.

Most of the above ideologies are well worn. We have plenty of experience to draw on from history to observe the patterns, recognize the adherents, and refute the theories.

DoJ, FBI Prepare For Election Night Violence, Voting Disruptions Profile picture for user Tyler Durden by Tyler Durden

During an election year that was marred by an unprecedented global pandemic and some of the worst political violence witnessed in the US since the 1970s, it’s hardly a surprise that the DoJ is planning to station officials at an election night “command center” at FBI headquarters in the J Edgar Hoover building.

With liberals still hysterical over President Trump’s answer to Chris Wallace’s final debate question about pledging to accept the election results, whatever they may be, the DOJ is intensifying its usual routine monitoring of election night activity to also brace for any problems with voting machines that might arise.

“The Department of Justice takes election security and integrity seriously, and this year is no exception,” said Kerri Kupec, a Justice Department spokeswoman.

The FBI said in a statement that, as in previous years, it is “committed to protecting the American public’s right to a fair and safe election by securing it” and that officials “are working closely with our federal, state, and local partners so everyone involved with safe-guarding the election has the information and resources necessary to respond in a timely manner to any violations that may arise.”

“Of course our preparations for 2020 take into account the current climate of the country,” the statement said. “As always, the FBI has a responsibility to plan for a host of potential scenarios.”

Majority of voters think Biden has used his political career to enrich his family and friends

https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/polling/majority-voters-believe-biden-has-used-his-political-career-enrich-his

A majority of U.S. voters say former Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has used his decades-long political career to enrich his family and close friends, according to a new Just the News Daily Poll with Scott Rasmussen.

When asked, 57% of voters said it was either “somewhat” or “very” likely that Biden’s inner circle has profited from his nearly 50-years-long career in public office, which includes the elected positions of U.S senator and vice president. Just 28% said they doubted such profiting.

Noting parallels between Biden and 2016 Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, Rasmussen said: “In 2016, the Clinton campaign acted as if all they had to do to win was point out the ethical failings of Donald Trump. They failed to see the reality that many voters also saw Clinton as fundamentally corrupt. In fact, the baseline view for many voters is that ALL politicians are corrupt.”

America’s Chris Wallace Problem – Is anything more dangerous to our country than media bias? Robert Stacey McCain

https://spectator.org/chris-wallace-debate-bias/

When will Chris Wallace apologize to Katie Pavlich? More than once, Wallace has
insulted his Fox News colleague on the network, as in a January segment about the impeachment of President Trump, when Wallace barked at Pavlich, “Get your facts straight!” As it turned out in that case, Pavlich was right and Wallace was wrong — and not accidentally so. The question at issue was Democrats’ demand that the Senate trial over what was called “Ukrainegate” include testimony from additional witnesses. Pavlich said this was unprecedented, and contended it was not the Senate’s fault that “the House did not come with a complete case.” Wallace began barking about “facts” in an attempt to rescue Democrats from the consequences of their failure.

Wallace’s dismal performance as moderator in Tuesday’s presidential debate reminded many viewers of such previous instances in which the Fox News Sunday host has shown his prejudice against Trump. And this matters, not only because of how that ugly televised carnival might affect the election, but because of what it tells us about the sad state of journalism in America. If Wallace is, Dov Fischer says, “the fairest moderator we can hope for in today’s Left-dominated media,” there is no hope for fairness. But what about those “facts” that Wallace presumed to lecture Katie Pavlich about? Even if we must resign ourselves to partisan prejudice from the media, must we tolerate journalists trafficking in outright lies?

That’s what Wallace did in Tuesday’s debate. Consider this question he aimed at President Trump: “You have repeatedly criticized the vice president for not specifically calling out Antifa and other left-wing extremist groups, but are you willing tonight to condemn white supremacists and militia groups and to say that they need to stand down and not add to the violence in a number of these cities, as we saw in Kenosha and as we’ve seen in Portland?”

Where is the evidence that “white supremacists and militia groups” were to blame for violence in Kenosha or Portland, Oregon? Wallace’s question was not only tendentious, but counterfactual. As regards Portland, Wallace seemed to be echoing Oregon’s woefully misguided Democratic governor. After a man who described himself as “100% Antifa” murdered a Trump supporter on the streets of Portland Aug.29, Gov. Kate Brown issued this rather bizarre statement:

‘Shut up,’ ‘clown,’ ‘fool,’ ‘liar’ — the vile debate spewings of Joe Biden By Monica Showalter

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2020/09/shut_up_clown_fool_liar__the_vile_debate_spewings_of_joe_biden.html

Joe Biden was in some kind of foul, putrid mode at the debate last night. Many people have cited memorable lines from the contentious political slugfest, but the lines that stand out are the grotesquely disrespectful ad hominem insults Biden directed at the president of the United States.

The Rev.com transcript shows tons of them:”He’s a fool on this.””Everybody knows he’s a liar.””Will you shut up, man?””Keep yapping, man.””He’s the racist.””He’s Putin’s puppy.””He never keeps his word.”

“Well, it’s hard to get any word in with this clown.””You’re the worst president America has ever had.”

What kind of argument for ‘civility’ and ‘decency’ and ‘dignity,’ — all words Biden uses ad nauseam, is that? Some kind of bottom has dropped out. Some of these insults were so disgusting they actually made viewers feel sorry for President Trump, which is frankly a feat.

ABOUT THE TAXES….

Trump in reality, paid $1 million in 2016 and $4.2 million in 2017. The “$750” figure listed under line 56 was amount due, AFTER THE previous estimated tax PAYMENTS. People who make a lot of money each year pay ESTIMATED taxes each quarter.. or even EVERY month and then have an adjustment made at the end of the year when they know the exact amount of their earnings for that year. So.. Trump had estimated his taxes quite accurately and paid $4.2 million in taxes and was only short in his guess work by $750..

Two-Thirds Of Spanish-Speaking Telemundo Voters Said Trump Won The First Debate By Madeline Osburn

https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/30/two-thirds-of-spanish-speaking-telemundo-voters-said-trump-won-the-first-debate/

A Telemundo poll of the network’s Spanish-speaking viewers found that two-thirds thought President Donald Trump won the first debate on Tuesday night against former Vice President Joe Biden.

A photo of the poll during Telemundo’s post-debate coverage shows 66 percent thought Trump won, while only 34 percent chose Biden as the winner.

An NBC/Marist poll released in early September showed Biden was dramatically underperforming with Latino voters in the state of Florida. Among Florida Latino voters, which Clinton won by 27 points in 2016 and still lost the state, Trump leads with 50 percent compared to Biden’s 46.
