Candidates’ Consciences For Sale by Thomas McArdle

https://issuesinsights.com/2019/06/07/c

The current frontrunner for the Democratic nomination for President, former Vice President Joe Biden, just reversed his position on the Hyde Amendment, which has prohibited federal funding for almost all abortions since it was first passed in 1976, then partially weakened in 1993 under Bill Clinton and a Democrat-controlled House and Senate.

But this is only one of an array of flip flops by Democrats in the top tier of the contest for the White House.

Biden had supported the Hyde Amendment since at least 1977, but now says “circumstances have changed. I’ve been working through the final details of my health care plan like others in this race and I’ve been struggling with the problems that Hyde now presents” as he seeks an expansion of Medicaid and enactment of the public option President Obama ultimately abandoned in the final version of ObamaCare.

“Folks, the times have changed,” Biden said – something he’s more or less also said regarding his unwelcome touching of women. The public turnaround comes after video surfaced of Biden telling an ACLU operative in South Carolina last month that he would support repeal of the Hyde Amendment, followed by his campaign sending out the mixed signal of claiming he continued to support Hyde.

As his support for legal abortion solidified during his climb to becoming more and more of a national figure, the Catholic former Delaware senator was forbidden from receiving Holy Communion by the bishop of his childhood hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Biden continued to receive when attending Mass in Delaware, however.

What is the price of a politician’s soul? As Shakespeare might have put it, “the campaign’s the thing wherein we’ll catch the conscience of the would-be President.”

AOC: Let’s Cover Rikers Island in Solar Panels and Stuff Jim Treacher

https://pjmedia.com/trending/aoc-lets-cover-rikers-island-in-solar-panels-and-stuff/

“”…Whenever we come out, whenever we activate, it’s not always in resistance. It’s not always to protest the things that we want, or prevent the expansion of a world that is unjust. But we also come together to put together a vision of the world that we want to build for ourselves… Because when we come together and we decide that we’re gonna shut down Rikers, and we’re gonna turn it not into a playground for the real-estate lobby, and not into a playground for the rich, but we’re gonna put it, and we’re gonna transform it into a public good for all people… If you just put 25% of Rikers Island and cover it in solar panels, we can close every toxic power plant in New York City that was built in the last two decades… And we have to always realize that these injustices aren’t abstract. Right? Our right to clean air and our access to clean water always falls along lines of income, it falls along lines of privilege. And so what we need to make sure is that no child is getting subjected to asthma because of the family that they were born in and the ZIP code that they were born in… And so my vision, and what I’m so excited to show and to discuss is how we’re gonna move forward… Not only how we’re gonna stop the bad things, but how we’re gonna heal and build for our future…” [yammering continues] “

The Sludge Sisters By Joan Swirsky

Throughout the ages, Jews have been the targets of genocidal forces both large and small, educated and ignorant, liberal and conservative, pagan and religious.

Other small sects and religions have never inspired the particular psychotic animus that Jews have because they never threatened the larger populace as Jews have with blazing green-eyed jealousy—the most powerful emotion of the human species. In fact, Proverb 14 states: “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy makes the bones rot.”

After all, Jews were the first people in history to:

Introduce monotheism to the world.
Introduce the seven-day week—after the six days of creation and the seventh day on which God rested.
Reject child sacrifice.
Establish the world’s ultimate Code of Ethics—the Ten Commandments.
Introduce a strict legal system of blind justice.
Enshrine the value of lifelong education.
Produce a Bible in which God pronounced the Jews His “chosen people.”
Resurrect a 2,000 year old language, Hebrew, the language of Israel.
Transform the deserts of Israel into flourishing orchards, farms, and gardens.
Pioneer some of the greatest technological, scientific and medical advances in the modern world.
Witness the fall of massive and powerful civilizations, nations, empires and regimes that tried to destroy the Jews such as the Egyptians, Babylonians, Romans, Philistines, Assyrians, Greeks, Crusaders, Nazis, et al, and—to this day—still try to destroy them, i.e., the Iranians, the people who call themselves Palestinians, Islamic radicals, and not to omit the crazed, worldwide anti-Semites whose preoccupation with Jews obsesses them night and day!

Jason Chaffetz: Congress doubles down on incentivizing illegal immigration

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/jason-chaffetz-congress-doubles-down-on-incentivizing-illegal-immigration

Responding to rewards that incentivize illegal immigration, migrants have flowed into the United States at record rates. In each of the last three months, more than 100,000 migrants have been detained for illegally crossing our borders. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told senators this week that many are renting babies to cross the border.

Of the 144,000 apprehended by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) during the month of May, 11,507 were unaccompanied minors. And these were just the ones that were caught.

Congress is upset about tariffs but where is the outrage about human trafficking? These are more than statistics, they are children, but Congress seems unmoved.

DHS estimates that just since September 2018, 1 percent of the entire populations of Honduras and Guatemala have migrated, many dragging vulnerable women and children with them. Rather than working to solve the problem as President Trump has been trying to do, Congress continues to ignore and incentivize more illegal immigration.

Democrats 2020: The Grievance Party A vicious identity politics and socialist platform. Larry Elder

https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/273910/democrats-2020-grievance-party-larry-elder

Describing the Democratic Party as one built on “identity politics” used to be a pejorative. But Georgia’s failed 2018 Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Stacey Abrams, recently defended this description of her party. “I would argue that identity politics is exactly who we are,” said Abrams, “and it’s exactly how we won. … When we refuse to engage in the conversation of identity politics, when we refuse to acknowledge that we see you and we understand you and we understand the barriers that you face, then what we are met with is a lack of trust.”

Fellow Democrat and presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg apparently failed to get the memo. A week before Abrams embraced and even expressed pride in Democrats’ identity politics, Buttigieg was blasting President Donald Trump for his “racist” use of it. Trump, said Buttigieg, engages in “peak white identity politics” that creates a “crisis of belonging” in America “designed to drive apart people with common interests.” Buttigieg added, “When you do not belong, it doesn’t just put you in a bad mood; it puts you in a different country.”

By “identity” politics, Democrats really mean grievances. The party leaders push the narrative that blacks, Hispanics, gays, etc. are victims, whether due “inequality” or “sexism” or “racism” or “otherism.”

Take 2020 Democratic presidential contender Sen. Kamala Harris, who announced plans to end the alleged grievance of “unequal pay.” Harris claims women working full time make 80 cents on the dollar for doing the same work as men. She insists it’s worse for minorities: Black women are only paid 61 cents on the dollar, Hispanic women 53 cents. Never mind that the Labor Department long ago debunked this myth.

The End of Democrat Domination in Michigan? ‘Rising Star’ John James Will Run for the Senate in 2020 By Rick Moran

https://pjmedia.com/trending/michigans-john-james-will-run-for-the-senate-in-2020/

Businessman John James, who gave incumbent Senator Debbie Stabenow a serious challenge in 2018, announced he will run for the Senate again in 2020 against another incumbent, Gary Peters.

James, whom Trump called “a rising star,” garnered more statewide votes than any other Republican in Michigan in the last decade. At age 37, he has shown himself to be an adept politician, running as a conservative in a state where Democrats have dominated for decades. Trump won Michigan in 2016, but only by the razor-thin margin of 11,000 votes out of more than five million cast. It’s widely believed that Trump absolutely has to have Michigan if he is going to win re-election.

“We are heading in the wrong direction as a country and our leaders in Washington are failing to lead us toward a better and brighter future. I believe I can help lead Michigan toward that future we deserve, and that’s why I am running for US Senate,” James tweeted.

He also sent an email to supporters saying, “my service to this nation is not over.” He’s a West Point grad who served eight years in the military, including two tours in Iraq.

James appeared on “Fox and Friends this morning:

“I understand what we need to do, because I have experience as a business leader, as a job creator, how to protect our economy from socialism, how to bring people together and unite people to make sure that we can defeat the evils that face us today,” James said.

Why Are Democrats Obstructing Justice? By Julie Kelly

https://amgreatness.com/2019/06/05/why-are-democrats-obstructing-justice/

It was a shocking acknowledgment from a fierce (and profane) Russian collusion propagandist.

“The Democrats have a clock ticking,” warned CNN analyst Phil Mudd on Tuesday. “If they can’t get things underway before the Department of Justice says, ‘here’s our report on how the [Trump campaign] investigation was initiated, they’re in trouble because the Department of Justice is gonna say, ‘when this thing got started, about the Trump campaign, it was pretty ugly.’ And then we’re off to the races.”

As if that revelation wasn’t enough to panic CNN host Don Lemon, Mudd continued. “I’m going to bet a paycheck when [dossier author Christopher] Steele gets in front of investigators and they say, how can you confirm to us that the information you acquired in that dossier is true, that he is not going to be able to answer.”

Here, Mudd admits two things: One, the attempt by House Democrats to harass Bill Barr over the Mueller report and threaten the attorney general with contempt charges are diversions from the real scandal—the corrupt origin of the Trump campaign probe largely based on a garbage political document. (Calls for impeachment also are a smokescreen intended to distract the attention of the American people.)

And two, the results of the investigation into how James Comey’s FBI launched and handled his agency’s counterintelligence probe into alleged Russian election “collusion” will not be pretty. In fact, it will be ugly.

This is why Democrats and the news media (I know, I repeat myself) want to delay the investigation and discredit Barr. Since his confirmation in February, Barr has publicly expressed his alarm at how the Obama administration weaponized powerful surveillance tools, along with other methods, to target political foes.

Barr last month appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham to take on this task after numerous delays and empty promises from Barr’s predecessor; this is welcome news as Trump’s base is eager for action.

Barr compared former FBI Director James Comey and his top officers to the Praetorian Guard in an interview last week.

Mexican Meddling in Our Elections Trump’s tariffs are necessary, but too nice for Mexico’s colonial regime. Lloyd Billingsley

https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/273922/mexican-meddling-our-elections-lloyd-billingsley

“Social problems are not solved with duties or coercive measures,” and “the Statue of Liberty is not an empty symbol.”

That was Mexican president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador after President Trump, no longer willing to wait on a hostile, do-nothing Congress, announced a 5 percent tariff on all Mexican goods. The tariffs would escalate in proportion to the way Mexico helps solve the border crisis, with a 25 percent rate targeted for October 1.

AMLO, as the Mexican president is known, blasted Trump for “turning the United States, overnight, from a country of brotherly love for immigrants from around the world, to a bolted space, where there’s stigmatizing, mistreatment, abuse, persecution, and a denial of the right to justice to those who seek — with sacrifice and hard work — to live free from misery.”

This reflected the belief of “socialist messiah” AMLO that all Mexicans have a “right” to live in the United States, which has the obligation to solve Mexico’s problems forever. AMLO quickly dispatched to Washington his foreign relations boss Marcelo Ebrard, a former Mexico City mayor who has been busy proclaiming Mexico “a great neighbor” of the USA.

Before that, as Ebrard told Francisco Goldman of the New Yorker, he became “committed to direct political action” to get Hillary Clinton elected in 2016. Ebrard had previously worked with Voto Latino and other groups in California, Arizona, Florida and elsewhere. The prospect of Trump, whom Ebrard compared to Adolph Hitler, prompted the Mexican’s work for the campaign of Hillary Clinton who is on record that “one-half of undocumented workers pay federal income taxes.”

David Marcus: From Occupy To AOC: The Rise Of The New Progressives, Part 3 With the election of Donald Trump, the New Progressives seized their opportunity to turn protest into political power with a new star.

https://thefederalist.com/2019/06/05/from-occupy-to-aoc-the-rise-of-th

Entering The Halls Of Power

On January 21, 2017 Donald Trump woke up as president of the United States for the first time. In those morning hours, hundreds of thousands of protesters were making their way to Washington DC for the most significant protest since Occupy Wall Street, which had occurred roughly five years earlier. Donning pink p-ssy hats and dedicated to overthrowing the patriarchy, and Trump, the Women’s March took to the streets.

At the time it was presented as an organic outpouring of anti-Trump emotion. But we now know that it was not only carefully organized, but that the New Progressives were the march’s driving force and leadership. Its manifesto, among other things, promised intersectionality, and to break down systems of oppression.

Suddenly these concepts once limited to a few thousand in Zuccotti Park were being marched on by hundreds of thousands. That is not to say that all of these women and men supported the entire far-left agenda of the Women’s March. Rather, Trump’s election provided the New Progressives the opportunity to cast themselves as his opposite, and if Trump was the ultimate evil, that made them the ultimate good.

Indeed, even the Women’s March itself was accused of insufficient wokeness, as illustrated by a Washington Post headline just three days later that asked, “Was the Women’s March just another display of white privilege? Some think so.”

The irony of this is that the organizers, people like Tamika Mallory and Linda Sarsour, had pushed the march’s manifesto and goals so far left of center using the exactly the same justification as was used for the Occupy General Assembly’s progressive stack: the most marginalized must lead, white women were to take a back seat and listen. Just as with Occupy Wall Street, there was, at best, antipathy towards Israel, and at worst outright anti-Semitism.

Warren Says Combating Climate Change Is ‘A Bigger Challenge Than WWII’ Elizabeth Warren dished out a climate change agenda that is as improbable as it is expensive, then turned around and insulted WWII vets.By Susanna Hoffman

https://thefederalist.com/2019/06/05/warren-says-combating-climate-change-is-a-bigger-challenge-than-wwii/

At a campaign event in Detroit, Michigan, on Tuesday, 2020 Democrat presidential candidate and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren said that climate change is an even bigger challenge than World War II.

“America has faced huge challenges before, WWII and putting a man on the moon,” Warren said. “This environmental catastrophe bearing down on us may be the biggest challenge yet.”

Warren’s disconcerting comparison to WWII must mean her plans to prevent climate change are drastic indeed. To handle this global threat, Warren weirdly implies we must have to mobilize a greater American industrial base than was in place during WWII, as well as more scientific innovation and resources than required to put a man on the moon.

This is Warren’s pitch for her Green Manufacturing Plan, which is part of her commitment to the Green New Deal that Democrats across the board have pledged to support. According to her website, Warren is looking at a 10-year plan to invest $2 trillion into an expected $23 trillion market for clean energy technology. This investment will help us “achieve the ambitious targets of the Green New Deal,” Warren wrote on her website.
