A devout Muslim who has praised Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and publicly branded all non-believers as mentally ill “animals” was recently hired to serve as the Huffington Post’s political director in the U.K.

Mehdi Hasan, a controversial British media figure whom insiders have billed as a mouthpiece for the Iranian regime, recently left his job at the left-wing New Statesman magazine to join the Huffington Post as a senior staffer, according to reports in the British press.

The Huffington Post merged with Internet giant AOL in February 2011 to form the Huffington Post media group.

Hasan formerly served as political editor of the New Statesman, which is affiliated with a socialist political party and has faced criticism for publishing articles that many observers have deemed anti-Semitic. In one instance, the New Statesman published an article titled “A Kosher Conspiracy” that purported to expose the great power of Britain’s “pro-Israel lobby.” The cover of that issue featured a Star of David piercing a Union Jack.

The ongoing ordeal of a U.S. businessman who has been rotting in a Dubai jail for more than two years, deprived of his civil rights, should serve as a warning to Americans and Westerners alike doing business with Dubai, a constituent monarchy of United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Shahin, a U.S. citizen, is just one of many foreigners who make up 80-95% of Dubai’s 2.3 million residents. Until his arrest, Shahin was CEO of Deyaar Realty, once Dubai’s second largest real estate developer, which, like Dubai’s entire real-estate sector, was hit hard by the global economic recession.

Shahin was arrested without warrant or indictment in March 2008. Sources familiar with the case reported that he was held incommunicado for over two weeks, while his house and office were ransacked and his documents confiscated. He was deprived of food, water, sleep and access to a toilet for days. The brutality inflicted on Shahin caused his poor health to worsen, requiring him to undergo two major surgeries. After thirteen months he was charged with bribery, fraud and embezzlement

Shahin was forced to sign documents he did not understand, because of threats that his wife will be jailed and his children will be sent to a shelter. When finally “released” on bail, Shahin was promptly rearrested on newly trumped-up charges and still languishes in jail. Meanwhile, the Dubai government and its autocratic ruling family have ignored entreaties by the State Department, the U.S. Ambassador and members of Congress to discuss Shahin’s plight. A letter from Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) to UAE’s Ambassador asking him to intervene to ensure Shahin’s health and safety while in prison remains unanswered nearly two years since it was delivered.

Shahin’s Kafkaesque detention is not unusual in Dubai, where a growing number of foreigners are being subjected to the country’s arcane Islamic legal codes and stripped of Western consideration for civil and human rights. The U.S. Department of State 2009 Human Rights Report for U.A.E., states: “while the constitution prohibits arbitrary arrest and detention… there were reports that the government held persons in official custody without charge or a preliminary judicial hearing…[and] There were also reports of prison guard brutality.” Moreover, the report notes: “court decisions remained subject to review by the political leadership.”

The Obama Justice Department awarded a group headed by a domestic terrorist, — and one-time FBI fugitive with close ties to President Barack Obama — hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars “to reduce racial disparities in the juvenile justice system,” according to a leading Inside the Beltway watchdog group.

“This is a story you likely won’t see in the mainstream media, but a reputable political magazine exposed it this week,” according to officials at Judicial Watch, an organization that investigates and exposes government corruption and abuse.

According to Judicial Watch’s Corruption Chronicles, Department of Justice has already given $400,000 in grants to an organization that blames disproportionately high criminal behavior among minority juvenile delinquents on discrimination. The San Francisco-based nonprofit describes itself as a leading organization in the field of juvenile justice and ethnic and racial disparities reduction.

Among the institute’s board of directors is Bernardine Dohrn, a longtime Obama supporter and fundraiser and proud member of the Weather Underground, a radical group that used explosives to attack the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon and other government buildings to protest U.S. policy. She and her group are believed responsible for the killing and wounding police officers, as well.

At 4.30am on September 5th1972, the Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany, was the scene for a devastatingly violent and anti-Semitic attack against members of the Israeli Olympic team.

A group of eight Palestinian members of the terrorist group Black September broke into the Olympic grounds and systematically hunted down the Israeli athletes, officials and coaches. Forcing their way into bedrooms in the early morning, the assassins killed on sight and took a number of hostages. The Black September members were demanding the release of 234 prisoners held in Israeli jails and their safe passage to Egypt.

After a failed rescue attempt, undertaken by the ill-equipped and ill-prepared German authorities, eleven Israelis and one German police officer were murdered by the attackers. It is imperative that we do not forget those innocent men that died and I feel a duty to name them:
