On Saturday November 20, a rock was thrown through the back kitchen window of the Helene G. Simon Hillel Center , of Indiana University, states the “Indiana Daily Student.” Shortly after this, a rock was thrown through the back window of the Chabad House Jewish Student Center, again connected with the same university, on Tuesday November 23.

Alex Groysman, president of the Chabad House, said: “We received no threats before or after the event, so there is no way of knowing who was specifically responsible for it. The only thing we can do is to bring light to this event and expose it for what it is.

The Chicago Tribune reported that the FBI are looking for a “a person of interest who they describe as a white male age 40 to 50 with grayish-blond hair and a gray beard.”

The anti-Semitic attacks on these Indiana University buildings just keep on coming. The Indiana Daily Student reports that on Monday (November 29) news came that “sacred Hebrew books were thrown into the toilets on several different floors of the Herman B Wells Library.”

Additionally, the student news source states that: “On Tuesday, another rock was thrown through a window at the Chabad House and the glass case listing the Jewish Studies faculty was smashed in Goodbody Hall.”

Provost of Indiana University Karen Hanson said:

“The anti-Semitic significance of these targeted and malicious acts is beyond any serious doubt and cannot be minimized. There is no place for anti-Semitism at Indiana University or anywhere else.”

Eliyahu Eliezer Werdesheim , a 23-year old Orthodox Jewish man was arrested for allegedly hitting a 15 year-old black teenager and telling him that “you don’t belong here.” The incident has raised tensions. The accused man belonged to the Shomrin neighborhood patrol. There have been calls for this group to be disbanded.  This group was established in 2005 after a rash of burglaries. According to the Baltimore Sun:

The [Shomrin] group is one of many largely Jewish volunteer organizations that have been lauded as a positive resource for the Park Heights community as police officials challenge city residents to be more active and engaged in their neighborhoods. Jewish residents also say such efforts are needed because of a history of victimization of neighbors, such as recent incidents in which rocks were thrown at a rabbi and a 15-year-old boy’s arm was broken.

Werdesheim’s attorney told The Sun that his client was observing the 15-year-old, who was in a residential neighborhood near Northwestern  High School at 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 19, when the boy became angry and attacked him with a stick (He told ABC that the weapon was a two-by-four with nails in it). It was the boy who called police, and detectives investigated for days before bringing charges. Werdesheim was given an opportunity to turn himself in, but did not and was picked up by the warrant apprehension task force.

Next week, representatives from the Jewish and black communities in the neighbourhood are scheduled to meet, to discuss ways of reducing the tensions.

UNITED STATES: New York – Yeshiva teacher injured in attack.

On Thanksgiving night in Wiliamsburg, New York, a 26-year old yeshiva teacher was severely beaten. Joseph Weinberger had left his work and was barely one block from home when he was set upon by three thugs around 7.30 pm. His clothing was ripped, and his arm and leg were broken. His jaw was wired shut and he has broken bones in his face. The incident has been condemned and police are investigating it as a possible hate crime.

According to The Jewish Week:

In August a chasidic man, Baruch Halberstam, was shot in the abdomen in another part of Williamsburg, Driggs Avenue, by gunmen who were heard laughing as they drove away. The shooters remain at large.

On Monday night, Mr Weinberger (called Joel in this CBS report) was released from hospital.

Israel National News (Arutz Sheva) reports that in Paris since November 12, posters have been placed around Paris, warning of the “Jewish Mafia” (La Mafia Juive). These are promoting the latest book of the same name. This 400 page work – full title “The Jewish Mafia: The great international predators” – is written by arch-nationalist, political anarchist and anti-Semitic bigot Hervé Ryssen. The book’s online publicity declares that the “Jewish Mafia” is behind:

“…racketeering, arms trafficking, contract killings, drug trafficking, money laundering, prostitution, casinos and nightclubs, porn, kidnapping, burglary, armed robbery, diamond smuggling, trafficking in works of art, fraud, etc. It is also the most dangerous. Some nosy journalists have been murdered.”

The National Bureau of Vigilance Against Anti-Semitism (BNVCA) was mobilized to remove posters, and called for Ryssen to be prosecuted. More than 38 posters were torn down.

SWEDEN: Pro-Israeli blogger attacked for being a Jew

Besides a few short articles in the local press without any real details, this story comes only through the blogs.

The Swedish press reports (SE, SE) that On Monday evening a man was attacked in his apartment in central Norrköping, in eastern Sweden. According to the victim, two hooded perpetrators rang his doorbell and when he opened the door, they beat him on the head with a wine bottle. The man got treatment in hospital.

Swedish blog JIHAD I MALMÖ spoke with the victim, who says this was an antisemitic attack by Arabs. “The first words I heard was ‘Jewish pig’.” He was then beaten 4-5 times with a wine bottle as he lay on the floor.

A noise from a door in the stairwell caused them to run out and down the stairs, while one shouted ‘Yahood’ (Arabic: Jew). When he came back from the hospital he discovered they had tried to tear out his mezuzah, but had only managed to take out one of the screws.

The police are not interested and the neighbors are afraid to testify, and so the victim is calling for help from anybody who might have seen the men or heard them talk about the attack.

He thinks the only reason he was ambushed is because he’s a pro-Israel blogger (writing under an assumed name).

UNITED KINGDOM: European Anti-Semitism – London is a hub for Anti-Israeli politics.

The respected journalist Martin Bright writes in the Jewish Chronicle yesterday:

According to the Tel Aviv-based Reut Institute, which examines the threat posed to Israel’s national security by Iran, Hizbollah and Hamas, the movement to “delegitimise” Israel aims to bring about the country’s implosion on the model of apartheid South Africa. The institute, led by Gidi Grinstein, suggests that London has become a “Mecca of Delegitimisation” for activists working to undermine Israel’s political model.

Last month in Haaretz, the British novelist Martin Amis gave an interview, in which he made the claims that the United Kingdom is “a little anti-Semitic,” and declared that Israel is the only country Britons feel comfortable attacking.

Amis said:

“I live in a mildly anti-Semitic country, and Europe is mildly anti-Semitic, and they hold Israel to a higher moral standard than its neighbors. If you bring up Israel in a public meeting in England, the whole atmosphere changes. The standard left-wing person never feels more comfortable than when attacking Israel. Because they are the only foreigners you can attack. Everyone else is protected by having dark skin, or colonial history, or something. But you can attack Israel. And the atmosphere becomes very unpleasant. It is traditional, snobbish, British anti-Semitism combined with present-day circumstances.”

Amis has previously been vocally critical of Islamism, a rarity among Britain’s current crop of politically correct Quislings in the media. He told Haaretz:

“Everyone gets death threats from Islam. It’s almost like getting your National Union journalism card. A death threat is cheap; even I can make a death threat.”

Kauft nicht bei Juden – “Don’t buy from Jews” – is back. The call to boycott Jewish commerce is Europe’s oldest political appeal. Once again, as the tsunami of hate against Israel rolls out from the Right and the Left, from Islamist ideologues to Europe’s cultural elites, the demand is to punish the Jews. That the actions of the Israeli government are open to criticism is a fact. But what are the real arguments?

Firstly, that Israel is wrong to defy international law as an occupying force on the West Bank. But what about Turkey? It has 35,000 soldiers occupying the territory of a sovereign republic – Cyprus. Ankara has sent hundreds of thousands of settlers to colonize the ancient Greekowned lands of northern Cyprus. Turkey has been told again and again by the UN to withdraw its troops. Instead, it now also stands accused of destroying the ancient Christian churches of northern Cyprus.

Does anyone call for a boycott of Turkey, or urge companies to divest from it? No. Only the Jews are targeted.

Palestinian Terrorist Amin Al-Hindi was one of the senior planners of the murders of 11 Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics in 1972. This week’s Fifth Sitting of the Fatah Revolutionary Council headed by Mahmoud Abbas was named in his honor.

The picture of the meeting shows Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas sitting in the center of the table and the text on the banner behind him reads:

A song and dance group that has recently performed hate and violence promotion songs in the PA has been honored and turned into an official Palestinian national band by decree of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. Among the performances that have been broadcast by the Alashekeen band on PA TV was a dance and song about conquering Israel through war. Israeli cities Lod and Ramle as well as Jerusalem are presented as Palestinian cities to be liberated through “Jihad” by Palestinians who have “replaced bracelets with weapons.” The song says: “Pull the trigger” to “redeem Jerusalem, Nablus and the country.” It also describes Israelis as “despicable” and says that “the Palestinian revolution awaits [them].”

The band’s logo includes the Palestinian flag next to the map of Israel presented as “Palestine” covered by a Kafiya, the Arab scarf.

Palestinian Media Watch reported when this song was first broadcast on PA TV on Sept. 12, 2010:

“Fight, brother, the flag will never be lowered,
the torches will never die out.”
On [Mt.] Carmel (in Israel) and in the [Jordan] Valley,
we are rocks and streams.
In Lod (Israeli city) we are poems, and in Ramle (Israeli city) – grenades.
We, my brother, shall remain the revolution of the fighting nation.”

“The Zionists went out from [their] homelands,
compounding damage and enmity.
But the Palestinian revolution awaits [them].
The orchard called us to the [armed] struggle.
We replaced bracelets with weapons.
We attacked the despicable [Zionists].

“The Palestinian Alashekeen band discovered yesterday that President Mahmoud Abbas recently published a presidential decision to turn the band, established in 1978 in Damascus, into a [Palestinian] national institution. Director of the Alashekeen band, Maisa Harb, said that the President had approved the decision as part of the presidential directives which he had announced during a banquet which he held in honor of the members of the band…

The director of the band introduced her speech with gratitude to President Mahmoud Abbas for his interest in and admiration for the band.”
